Post Pioli, are we looking at a full rebuild?

Let's be optimistic and imagine for a moment that the end of this season brings the axe, and Pioli, Crennel, Cassel, and most of the team's major problems are swept out as Clark Hunt proves he is not an absentee owner and does in fact care about winning.

Are we looking at a near total rebuild, at this point?

This would be a team with no GM, no coaching staff worth retaining, and no quarterback. Most of Pioli's draft choices have melted away like cotton candy. If we had a window when we snuck into that Wild Card game, it seems to have closed. But the Chiefs are the 8th youngest team in the league with an average age of 25.8

Would we find a new GM attempting to retain talent like Bowe, Dorsey, Johnson, etc?

Or are we in "blow it up except for Houston, Hali, and a few select parts" territory?

Do the fans have the stomach for another rebuild?

imo this team needs a pass rusher and a QB. They have enough at other positions to get going with those two upgrades.

They have 2 terrific pass rushers in Houston and Hali.

The defense is fine when the d-line is stunting and attacking vs. playing 2-gap. It's not a talent issue. It's scheme.

you need more than 2 pass rushers

a lot more.

you also need more than a midget nickel CB to cover WRs in pass happy offenses.

Hali
Houston
DJ
Arenas (who is the same size as Flowers)
Berry

That's a decent pass rushing core when Romeo has turned the heat up, the DL has shown the potential to get pressure, too...again when they are getting the calls that let them attack instead of playing on their heels.

lol arenas and berry. i hope you are not serious.

most good teams have about 5 to 7 good pass rushers in their front 7. we have 2. DJ helps sometimes.

and thats why we have been consistency on the bottom of team sacks and rushing the passer year after year after year. the stats dont lie, under Pioli we have been one of the poorest teams rushing the passer.

Actually, you shouldn't laugh at Arenas in this context. He's pretty darn good at blitzing, getting there, and closing the deal.

The amazing thing is that Roleo rarely (if ever) calls his number for this purpose.

You've been spot on in your assessment of Crennel so far, and much of this team as well.

Hats off. I was expecting much more. My apologies for jumping all over you for constantly pissing all over them before the season started. I thought you were either an idiot, or trolling. I was paying too much attention to all of the talent and over looking the fact that Crennel was over his head, and that Charles and the D could not cover up Cassel's complete lack of balls, and talent. Crennel's failures have destroyed the D, and I was an Idiot for thinking Cassel could be merely average.

For the first time during this regime, I have completely given up hope that these guys could get it done. I was WRONG.

Hali, and Houston, should both be double digit guys. DJ is not horrible at rushing the passer. We need more pass rushers, but Houston will go a long way toward boosting our sack total, and freeing up other guys, as it looks like he's a guy teams are going to have to take notice of.

Another reason our sack totals have been so low, is that Crennel is just not attacking the QB. Until that changes, it's not gonna matter who we have rushing the passer. More heat, might even free up guys like T Jack. (might)

And it just might relieve the d-backs from having to cover receivers for 11 seconds.

Your number is a little high there. There are only 7 in any Defense's front 7. Not every LB and DL can rush the passer on ANY team.

Yeah saying most teams have 5 to 7 of their 7 being good pass rushers is an extreme stretch. The point of having depth in that category is a good one. But even the great pass rushing teams don't have 7 of 7, and certainly not most teams have 5 to 7.

good teams like the 49ers, Giants, etc roll out like 5 pass rushers on passing downs.

i thought that was understanding, we are talking strictly rushing the passer not base defense
