Trailer for Ridley Scott's Alien prequel leaked

Terrible footage but here is a good description:

• The trailer starts with the 20th Century FOX logo. You hear a transmission. A woman (which I assume to be Rapace) is saying "...got to stop... was wrong.. so wrong...I'm so sorry...". You can hear the last part very clearly.
• The first scene shows a spaceship (similar to the one seen in the first leaked trailer) flying towards a planet on the background.
• Next you see is the surface of a planet and some sort of facility. It kinda looks like a Lunar base to me.
• Now they show this scene from the Comic-con footage.
• You can see the film's title forming in the background during most of the trailer. Pretty much like in the introductory scene of Alien.
• Next is the Ampule room. They show it off from all different angles and finally a close up of the ampules. Suddenly you hear a high pitch scream. It's not human. It sounds like if it was from a facehugger. Then there's a lot of smoke from what seems to be acid corrosion. They show a guy in a spacesuit. He's alone. Screaming and putting his hands over his helmet. It looks just like the Kane/derelict scene in Alien.
• Now they show the same spaceship from earlier. Same shot as in the first leaked trailer. Flying towards what seems to be a different planet in the background.
• The next 2 scenes are from the comic-con footage. 1, 2.
• Now they show Vickers running across a hallway. Same scene as in the first leaked trailer.
• Next seems to me someone in a spacesuit. Driving a futuristic vehicle in some desert like surface. Heading towards some structure or facility in the middle of nowhere at full speed.
• Impressive shot of the Iceland waterfalls.
• Next is this scene from the comic-con footage. They seem to be shooting at something or someone but they don't show it.
• Next you see is some grey-black serpent like creature. Jumping ala facehugger from some sort of grey-goo cavity. Now they show the whole scene. There's two guys in their spacesuits. One lying on the ground (it seems to be the impregnated guy from earlier) and another one checking on him. The creature jumps from what seems to be the insides of the previous impregnated guy to the other one.
• Now they show someone with a expression of pain. The guy is still in his spacesuit and someone appears to be holding him in their arms.
• Now you can see a device or hologram of some sort. It looks like an atom or a planet. I'm not sure if it's a planet or just some molecular structure tbh. The center of the hologram is a single sphere so it should be a planet system. Probably the coordinates to some other world.
• Now this shot from comic-con.
• Next is a spaceship being destroyed while in the air.
• One guy in a spacesuit pouncing at someone else while holding something. It looks like it's going to hurt.
• Next is the space jockey room. Same as in the Comic-con footage. The center piece of the plate opens and the space jockey chair rotates out of the ground.
• Next scene shows off a very inflated belly. Like if the person was pregnant but there's something bigger than a chestbuster moving inside. Seems to be Rapace's.
• Idris Elba yells while aboard of what seems to be the Prometheus.
• The sandstorm + Rapace spacesuit scene. Same as in the first leaked trailer. Close up of Rapace. She gets hit by the storm and she falls down a pit. It's the scene depicted in the official still released around comic-con.
• Now you can clearly read Prometheus. The whole title has formed in the background. They show it for a few seconds.
• Now a close up of Rapace's face. She's in pain. It seems to be the same scene as in the first leaked trailer. The one with the green lasers scanning her belly.
• Now they show someone in a spacesuit looking at the derelict in the surface of a planet with clear skies.
• The words "They went looking"
• The derelict again. It's vertical to the ground. It would be impossible to enter it from the same place as in Alien.
• The words "for earth's beginning"
• Still on the same planet. The derelict (or something really big) seems to be falling down from above. The guy in the spacesuit is running away now. Trying not to get crushed.
• The words "what they found"
• They now show two guys running away.
• The words "could be its the end"
• They show the same guys again. Running away from what appears to be a huge gigerish structure (it feels like it's moving but it's hard to tell). Perhaps the derelict in flight. There's a lot of smoke. What appears to be debris on fire are falling from above. They keep running away from it.
• The trailer ends.
• The music reminded me a lot of the one from Inception (the 'horns sounds'). But mixed with what appears to be the music from the original trailer for Alien. Same music during all the trailer.

#2 Lindelof has noted in interview that when he was young he thought Alien and Blade Runner existed in the same world. That’s an interesting idea, and one I think that is subtly suggested in Prometheus. Janek ask Vickers if she’s a robot, and it’s a question I was certainly thinking.

One crackpot theory I have is that Vickers really is a robot, a replicant such as those seen in Blade Runner. The nerd take away from Blade Runner is that it’s about a robot who doesn’t know he’s a robot (a point endlessly debated for going on 30 years now). How apropos would it be if Prometheus had the same thematic note, but that it also doesn’t truly reveal it’s secret in the film? Vickers tells Janek she’s not a robot, and ostensibly proves it by sleeping with him. But my recollection from Blade Runner is that Deckard and Rachael (who is definitely a replicant) have sex. Vickers having sex doesn’t shake me off the trail.

Charlize Theron plays Vickers quite coolly, and her essentially flawless (approaching non-human) physicality makes for perfect casting. Also, David calls Vickers “mum,” and Vickers calls Weyland “father.” Echoes of each other, synthetics looking at the world as children?

So I choose to believe that Vickers is in fact a replicant, bridging once and for all Alien and Blade Runner. And so I also believe that Vickers wasn’t killed by the crashing Derelict but in fact stood up after it ran over her and had quite the realization, finding herself not dead and probably damaged to the extent that she could see evidence of her syntheticness. I speculate that soon after we see Shaw and David heading to find another Derelict, they encounter Vickers and she joins the merry band. Vickers is on the ship heading off to Engineer home planet.

Earth. The beginnings of our world. In an opening montage, we watch as our primordial planet is terraformed and bioformed by seemingly all-powerful, Godlike alien entities…the ENGINEERS. The seeds of life are introduced to Earth for the first time by these fantastic extra-terrestrials, who have the power to create and manipulate both mechanical and biological matter at will. The montage ends as the earliest genetic recipe for life is sent forth from the Engineers’ massive, towering CITADEL in the dark desert.

The desolate desert of Africa: 2085. The prehistoric ruins of the Engineers’ Citadel is discovered by a corporate construction team tasked with building a nuclear-powered comm-array in the wilderness. Amidst the ancient remains are found highly advanced, biomechanical relics with are determined to be of extra-terrestrial origin. This catches the attention of the mega-conglomerate WEYLAND-YUTANI CORPOTATION, who finances a massive archaeological excavation of the citadel in the hopes of reverse-engineering the alien biotech for financial gain. Running the operation is MEREDITH VICKERS, a cold, calculating corporate executive, who recruits intelligent and independent astrophysicist DR. ELIZABETH SHAW to head up the research team. Assisting Dr. Shaw are xenoarchaeologist DR. THEO ZEDMORE and her fellow astrophysicist DR. LOGAN. Shaw uncovers the secret of the citadel when she discovers a chamber of star charts, which seem to lead the way to the home planet of the Engineers. Also uncovered is evidence suggesting that the Engineers had a database of all life on Earth, and may even have been responsible for its creation including Man.

In a partially-submerged MANHATTAN, Vickers meets with Dr. Shaw and an OPO, (Off-Planet-Officer), CAPTAIN JERAMIAH JANEK, and plans a space mission following the discovered star charts in an effort to find and make first contact with the Engineers. For the scientists and explorers onboard, it will be a journey of discovery, but for Vickers, it’s merely a way of obtaining new technology so that Weyland-Yutani may retain the lead in the competitive race to establish colonies off-world.

The depths of space: 2090. A highly-advanced, top-of-the-line ISRV (Interstellar Research Vessel) PROMETHEUS decelerates as it reaches its target solar system. The vessel’s crew emerges from their cryo-chambers. Along with Elizabeth Shaw, Theo Zedmore, Logan, Meredith Vickers, and Captain Janek, the crew of the Prometheus is comprised of: First Officer MUDOW, Security Officer RAYDEN HOLLOWAY, Navigator CHANCE, Helm Officer RAVEL, Operations Android DAVID 4.0, Political Officer ALDRICH, Medical Officer FRANCIS, Engineer YURI, and Technical Officers SIENA, LETTUP, and TEMBROOK. The crew gets acclimated to their removal from cryo-sleep, their muscles in atrophy from five years without use. Holloway assists Shaw in her physical therapy exercises.

The crew prepares for arrival at the home planet of the Engineers. Shaw and Holloway are instantly attracted to each other, initiating a romantic relationship. However, as they enter the Zeta 2 Reticuli star system, Prometheus encounters a massive disturbance which hadn’t appeared on scanners, one even more powerful than a black hole: a wormhole in space. Prometheus is sucked into the wormhole, and after a harrowing ride, emerges on the other end. The ship crashes on a barren planet, which the damaged computer system identifies as the mission’s final destination.

The crew sets about attempting to repair the Prometheus, while Elizabeth Shaw leads a recon expedition to investigate nearby structures, which turn out to be a cavernous Engineer temple. Inside the temple, Shaw’s team encounters a bizarre BIO-BRAIN, a biomechanical humanoid face set within a towering pillar, as well as thousands of seemingly primitive URNS. David takes several of the urns back to the vessel for analysis.

Investigating the urns, David discovers that they contain the genetic material for thousands of species within a viscous liquid called BIOFORMER which can rewrite any living organism on a cellular level. Basically, possession of the substance gives its owner the power to create life. Vickers interacts with David and seemingly innocently leads to the Bioformer infecting David through a cut in his finger.

Within the depths of the Temple, we find several living Engineers who discover the transgression of the Humans, and remotely rewrite the stolen Bioformer to make it into a weapon. The Engineers capture Holloway and run a number of horrific experiments on him, injecting him with the Bioformer and allowing him to return to the vessel.

Subsequently, the crew of the Prometheus begins to fall victim to the now weaponized substance, as the “carrier” Holloway injects Ravel, Zedmore, Francis, Siena, Lettup, and Tembrook. The victims begin to lose their humanity and slowly transform, experiencing nightmarish visions and hallucinations and making pilgrimages to the depths of the Temple to receive instructions from the Bio-Brain. Holloway, in particular, is resistant to the transformation, fighting against the alien influence with his feelings for Shaw and his responsibilities as security officer. Meanwhile, David finds that the Bioformer is making him into a biological being…making him Human. The crew also finds that their trip through the wormhole took them back hundreds of millions of years and they are actually stranded on primordial Earth, having moved through space and time.

Eventually, as alien influence and the continued lurking presence of the Engineers becomes clear, the crew of the Prometheus turns on each other as the infected human victims fully mutate into PROTOFORMS: vicious, skeletal alien monstrosities which proceed to assault the unaffected Human crew through the halls of the Prometheus.

Mudow, Logan, Chance, Aldrich, Yuri, and Janek end up being destroyed by the Protoforms. In a strange, erotic ceremony, the Protoforms seemingly mate with the Bio-Brain and each other to create thousands of EGGS, the first of a new generation of the monsters. Meredith Vickers is revealed to be a sleeper CONSTRUCT of the Engineers, who are still active in their far future and Shaw’s present due to the time-travelling abilities of the wormhole. Vickers was grown in an Engineer lab but escaped, fleeing to Earth while always wanting to her find creators and take their power. The Engineers activate Vickers’ secondary GENE PROGRAMMING, and she transforms into an ALPHA PROTOFORM: the STAR BEAST.

At last, the two remaining crew members, Elizabeth Shaw and David, seek to confront the Engineers in the Temple. The Godlike entities prove to be utterly evil, and David sacrifices himself as he’s dissolved in the LIFE SEED BIOFORMER which is the basic genetic recipe for MAN: the former android David, it turns out, is the basis for all Mankind. Shaw is captured by Holloway, but he regains enough of his humanity to remotely activate an Engineer vessel for Shaw’s escape, then holds the other Protoforms and Engineers at bay. As Shaw escapes, she finds herself in the midst of the initial Engineer terraforming of Earth which we had witnessed in the opening montage, chased by the former Meredith Vickers who is now the gigantic, horrific Star Beast.

Shaw makes to her escape vessel which blasts off for the wormhole, Holloway fighting the Star Beast with both falling into the wormhole and disappearing. An Engineer PILOT detaches from the Temple in a FAMILIAR VESSEL and follows Shaw, but is lost in the wormhole. Shaw emerges above the Earth of her present day; however, she’s deemed insane and responsible for the loss of her expedition and confined to a psychiatric hospital by the Company. It’s implied that there are at least some of those who believe Shaw’s tale, but have silenced her as part of a cover-up.

In the final scene, we see the vessel of the Engineer that was chasing Elizabeth Shaw emerge from the wormhole in the Zeta 2 Reticuli star system, still in the prehistoric past, and crash on a nearby planetoid, the Engineer Pilot helplessly lost and the EGGS in the ship’s cargo hold stirring as something alive moves from within…

I haven't seen the movie, but what you guys are talking about doesn't really fall in line with the synopsis does it?
All the talk about Vickers origins and what not. Was she not created in a lab by the engineers? Does she turn into a uhhhh, star Beast?lol

Lack of character development and jumping right into the planet kinda turned it off a bit for me. Still enjoyed it mostly. Still left alot of questions. Maybe if a part 2 is made then it makes it better

This post is going to contain spoilers for Prometheus. *If you’ve not seen Prometheus*and you liked Alien*and Blade Runner, then you probably shouldn’t read further — you’ll be happier if you see the spectacle and then come back for the exposition. *If you thought Blade Runner*was, frankly, kind of dumb… then I’m afraid the Alien*lineage isn’t going to make up for a whole lot of the character behavior in Prometheus. *Except for Michael Fassbender, who plays the artificial person far, far too perfectly.
But now that you’ve seen it (if you’re going to), I’m sending you off to read some other guy’s mythological analysis of it. *He is “Cavalorn,” his post is “Prometheus Unbound: What The Movie Was Actually About,” and it is 100% spoiler and spot-on enough that I’m glad he covered so much of it so I don’t have to. *Really, he did an amazing job and you should go read it… *But he did miss a few things and that’s what I’m going to write about.
My spoiling begins… now.
Vickers is a replicant. *Flat out is. *Her only act of lust was to maintain her cover as a human in the same way David wore his environment suit. *(And Ridley Scott is the Blade Runner guy, remember?) *But Meredith’s trick is that she was too perfect, too equal to her creator, so she got shunted (to the board room) and ignored (but not destroyed) to make room for the more servile creation. *This was the running motif of Data and Lore in Star Trek: The Next Generation, but is also the motif of Adam, Lilith, and Eve. *But that’s not mythological enough, so let’s call up Paradise Lost*and see that Lucifer gets pushed aside when Jesus is set up to mediate to God. *Like them, Vickers feels bitterness at her creator for being created first but appreciated less. *This is not, however, a precise comparison: what was that nonsense about creating life versus creating machines? *Peter Weyland’s illusions of creating life effectively make him not a god, but rather Satan — who is good with illusions that invite idolatry but incapable of creating, certainly not creating life per se. *After Satan’s fall (back in Paradise Lost) he did have a pseudo-offspring of Sin, female, that was born from his head (intellect?)*to add another mythological layer to the artificiality of Ms. Vicker’s life.
[All references to Paradise Lost*are being cribbed from David Hawkes' The Faust Myth*in case you're wondering how I'm pulling this feat of recall. *If you've read this book and it suddenly occurs to you that the recordings of the Engineers, and especially the super-pretty stellar navigation, are performative signs indicative of their Satanic power... bonus points to you! -- but I don't think that was what Ridley Scott had in mind as it contrasts poorly with the bigger self-sacrifice motif.]
Let’s spend more time on Peter Weyland, specifically his sneakiness. *Now Cavalorn says roughly that “the atmosphere in the cylinder chamber was reacting to the human psyche” which is nonsense from the perspective of the gene-based Alien-lore perspective but I can’t say it’s wrong here at a symbolic, mythological level. *And Weyland’s presence actually supports it at the symbolic level. *The noble scientists aren’t here to be corrupting and evil and stuff, but the truth is that they can’t help it: they brought it with them. *That Weyland claimed in the video recording to be dead — thus hypothetically leaving the scientists unshackled and in the clear to pursue their beliefs (and that’s an odd phrase) — underscores the corruption bound into the pursuit. *They thought they were clear of its taint, but they weren’t. *We’re reminded of it by the trillion-dollar conversation, and again by Fifield, but only Weyland is big enough to taint the whole thing. *But this is symbolic, so it is not, however, a problem unique to Peter Weyland: *when Shaw continues her quest, she takes her faith (the cross pendant) and her techno-idolatry (David’s talking head) with her, with the latter ensuring her continued failure.
What exactly this means to Ridley Scott, Blade Runner guy, I cannot readily say. *I personally find it odd that his characters are going backwards. *Perhaps I’ve been reading too much Jung to sympathize with their quest. *But look at them: Shaw, Weyland, Holloway, and Roy Batty all think they’ve got a personal creator who has The Answers if only they can find said creator to pose questions to to him/her/it. *And while Roy’s quest makes some sense because he knows he’s a replicant, the Prometheus*mission makes rather less sense because they’re evolved humans — a point that gets lost when they consider the Engineers. *A mortal Terran knows their evolutionary lineage, but seems to regard the mortal-as-demonstrated Engineer with human DNA as having popped up ex nihilo*to create those very special people we call Liz and Pete and Chuck. *This makes sense if Peter is Lucifer trying to confront God, but the larger tragedy of the film is that they didn’t find God, they found Some Guy — a lone, anonymous, anger-management-impaired survivor out of a whole crew of Some Guys. *Some Guys may have a history as boring as the rest of us or as freaky as the Greek pantheon — really, read up on Saturn — but we don’t even begin to question this until the film is over. *Put simply, the explorer’s inability to address the mythology unfolding before them like a xenomorph egg made me want to slap facehuggers on the lot of them. *That people who got a trillion dollar stellar expedition for studying cave paintings wouldn’t spend an hour racking their brains for which ancient mythologies best described what they actually found (and I’m totally going with Nephilim from Genesis 6:4) showed how two-dimensional the characters really were.
The final interesting thing* is that the personal quest that these characters go on, they ostensibly claim to be going on for the benefit of the species. *To answer the great questions of the species, they spend over two years utterly disconnected from the species, putting a really huge number of kilometers between them and Earth. *And how many known-humans were in the film that weren’t on board the Prometheus? *I’m remembering 2 at the dig site. *While this demographic sample isn’t unusual for an Alien*film, or any horror film, it does seem odd to pursue a personal quest in the name of a species that isn’t really represented within the main characters’ field of vision. *Note that this isn’t the same as saving a species that won’t ever know it was saved, as the captain does. *This isn’t just sacrifice, this is the unsung sacrifice that echoes the Babylon 5*episode “Comes an Inquisitor” — and if you noticed the black Captain Janek showing his social affiliations with the Christmas tree, antique squeeze-box, Weyland Corp.-emblazoned shirt, et cetera, it becomes clear that Janek is sacrificing his temporal life to save his ongoing roots, especially contrasted with the sterilized-to-selfishness white-and-blonde Vickers (replicant status notwithstanding). *And yet. *When we consider that they thought they’d left the human condition*behind them so that it wouldn’t corrupt the purity of the answers they genuinely wanted for themselves, it makes perfect sense as to why they’d want to be leaving the species behind. *It’s the people who don’t wholly leave their species behind that are willing to make the sacrifice necessary to save it. *The point, however, appears to be this: if you go looking for truth — whether pilot or scientist — please be honest with yourself and don’t expect to take it home with you.
Overall, I’m glad I watched Prometheus*once but I don’t think I’ll be watching it again.
* Because I’m not touching the — bluntly, backwards — notion of “Space Jesus” or any anti-Catholic implications of Mr. Weyland’s name being “Peter” that could follow from that; No.

I think the point is, she may not know she's a replicant.
