Singaport: Trump Meets Kim (event thread)

The historic meeting between the two leaders will take place at 9 a.m. local time in Singapore. To account for the time difference, Americans following the summit should watch for meeting proceedings to begin on June 11 at 9 p.m. ET and 6 p.m. PT.

Exciting! I'm so worried about North Korea!

But um....why isn't China taking care of this problem?

Contributed?

They are border countries. Isn't it their problem? How about they take care of it while we "contribute"?

Because NK was sending missiles threatening to make them reach America. That makes it our problem. But China is another problem for us too.

However, the rapprochement actually began with the So Koreans anyway. What happened was Trump met with SK and he asked them what they wanted. To which Trump said, how can I help. Can't remember exact words but it was something like that by both sides. I posted it before.

Kim Jong Un is a brutal dictator who throws political dissidents in death camps, starves his people, has threatened war against the united states and our allies, and has executed anyone who is a threat to him.

Something to remember when Trump & trumpkins are saying nice things about him while simultaneously alienating canada over milk.

Hey PB,

Perhaps, China didn't handle NK because they're worried they're losing their vassal state or it's a set up. I know they had Kim fly via Chinese airspace as much as possible and with a military escort to protect him. Kim is very paranoid about someone taking his life too.

Look at this article:
China, the Spectre Haunting the Singapore Talks

The Chinese are reportedly pulling out all the stops in their efforts to spy on President Donald Trump and his delegation in Singapore. They are not only worried about losing their North Korean vassal state, but they are also seeking to learn as much as they can about Trump’s negotiating techniques.

You see, they understand that they are next...

These prospects are horrifying to the Chinese on multiple levels...

First of all, it will weaken China’s hand vis-ŗ-vis the United States by taking away its ability to play the North Korea card.

In the past, every time U.S.-Chinese relations seem headed for rough waters, Beijing brings up North Korea. They lecture us on how much we need them to help “rein in” that rogue nuclear state...

It is also very much to Beijing’s advantage to keep North Korea poor and dependent. A North Korean buffer state increases China’s influence in the region, keeps the Korean Peninsula weak and divided and, most importantly, keeps American troops away from the Yalu River, which borders China.

Chinese resistance explains why Kim Jong-un came back from his second meeting with Xi Jinping once again mouthing anti-American rhetoric.

Trump rightly blamed China for Kim’s “different attitude.” “I think I understand why that happened,” he said. “I can’t say that I’m happy about it.”

And then he promptly canceled the summit.

Kim Jong-un was forced to decide whether he wanted to remain China’s puppet or take his country in a new direction....more—>

Back channels I follow are starting to chatter that Assange is going to drop Hillary's emails soon. Maybe at the same time as the Trump-Kim meeting.

May or may not happen. Just relaying what I'm hearing FWIW.
