We are witnessing history in the making....

For the first time since 1953, I do believe, the Leaders of the US and North Korea are sitting down for a discussion to build a better relationship.

Nothing int he way of significant policy will come from the initial meeting but nonetheless, the building blocks could be being laid down.

This could all amount to nothing. This could amount to the total de-nuclearization of the NK. This could and most likely if it doesn't collapse, will amount to something in between.

But here we are, witnessing a good ice breaker and a far cry from the nuclear war many said Trump would cause.

You gotta hope for the best here. I know there are anti-Trumpers that are praying for a failure and for nothing more than politics.

These could be the first steps for the world to become a better place than it was yesterday.

Tip the hat to President Trump if only for the moment.

No. If it's being stated (I presume) because Trump has ALWAYS been about his brand first. That's not in dispute. If he has grown beyond that, I'll be the first to offer my thanks and congratulations on his evolution and growth.

His brand is America first, I agree.

If it actually leads to getting rid of the nukes, then great, I don't need to know. My guess is they will both walk away claiming different things were promised. Maybe they'll be small differences, maybe large ones. But nobody will know without any credible witnesses.
What's to be verified in this meeting? Nothing is being discussed policy wise. At least not at any significant level.

I think people just need to chill out. Trump thus far has shown that while he does break a lot of eggs, he makes one hell of an omelet.

Both probably will walk away claiming different things. Kim Jong Un can't go back to NK looking like he tucked tail. I think too many people are expecting too much out of this initial meeting.

Didn't catch who it was but some former Chief of Staff of something said it was a debasement of the American flag to have it displayed next to the NK flag at the site of the summit.

Some people are really, really reaching for any and every little thing they can to shit on this. Are people really so ****ing jaded that they are willing to hope for piss-poor relations all because Hillary lost?

Look, just because you don't require anything more doesn't mean that is how diplomacy is normally done. Not saying he can't do it that way, but now, why the hell does any claim about this meeting by either man hold ANY validity? Nobody else can say, "Yes, that is what was said."

Is it really an omelet at that point? I mean, if we're going to continue this analogy, we know he broke some eggs and turned on the stove, but we really haven't seen anything resembling the claimed result. It could just be fried eggs for all we know.

I also, don't know who you are referring to as "freaking out". I've been watching MSNBC coverage (and CNN earlier), and I didn't see the freak out you described. It was noted, you know, because that's what reporters do, report things, but I didn't see anyone running around going "Oh my God, what have we DONE!!!"

As I said earlier, these guys were running around 2 years ago saying Trump is unfit and should be anywhere near the nuclear codes. Now he’s attempting to disarm North Korea’s nuclear program in toto.

It has them totally discombobulated.

Now the latest is KJU is only 34 and more schooled at this than Trump who is 72.

I mean the left wing media is truly out to sabotage this at any cost.

It's really been SK Moon that's been holding it together. Pompeo's been irritated with Bolton and had to sideline him at one point. Pompeo, from what I hear, is very good at cajoling Trump and getting him to wind down. Moon kept things together with Kim and still met with him despite that last Libya comment brouhaha by Bolton.

Then there's Chucky Schumer and the Democrats taking a play out of the old book on Bipartisan Anti-Diplomacy by demanding Trump make NK offers that have to be refused by any state. Again, Moon changed the game. That's the factor they're ignoring. He has been very key.
