The REAL, ACTUAL 2013 ChiefsPlanet Consensus Mock, Round 1

Yeaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......... not very realistic the Chiefs are going to take Milliner anymore. So let's redo this.

I did this last year to amusing effect, so let's get it going this year for my amusement, if for nothing else.

I will mock up the NFL Draft as draft season develops, and every time the Chiefs are up for a pick, I will put the question before ya'll to see who you're interested in picking.

So, Chiefs get the first pick. Select from the above options who you want them to select.

Now, I am making a controversial executive decision here and EXCLUDING Geno Smith, since we all know that is not realistic anymore, and including him will no doubt make him the winner. I want to see what ChiefsPlanet realitically likes as an option.

Keep in mind, there is no trade down option: so who do you want them selecting?

Poll coming soon.

IMO, there is no way in hell that the Chiefs pick 1.1....

If they do it's Joeckel.

End of poll.

No Geno, no trade.

Bad poll. Fundamentally inaccurate.

They'll trade down, but if they don't I actually think they'll go with Fisher.

If they really want to retain Albert, Fisher is the better fit at RT and has more of a mauler mentality.

In either event, I'd still go with Floyd.

At this point I say giving Smith extra time and protection so that he can have time to make good decisions and opening running lanes for Charles is the best way to improve and maximize our investment. Gotta be an O lineman. Joeckel I guess....?

The best way to protect Alex Smith is to stay out of shootouts.

The best way to stay out of shootouts is to force the other team into a ball-control offense.

We've taken care of part 1 - lots of guys in the secondary that can cover ground. Now we need to deal with part 2 - improving the pass rush.

Floyd or Richardson could do as much to protect Alex Smith as Luke Joeckel could. After watching Stephenson hold his own against Miller, I think he's a more than capable RT for us.

I'd STILL take Geno Smith.

Sit him for a year or two and let him master the system ala Rodgers or Kaepernick.

Get a right tackle in the third.

Sadly I'd say both lines are the weakest spots on the team at this point.

Dumb poll. Doesn't include trade down option.

If the Chiefs move down to #8, I could see them moving down once again, especially if Fisher and Jordan are gone.
