Very few non-bronco fans can tolerate him. he creates inane threads that are homeristic in nature (his avatar is very apropos), and nobody loves him (not even his own mother)

'face, this can be the home for all knowmo threads so we aren't treated to the bi-weekly steaming 'presents' left by the front door.

They all were forced to play the terrible, terrible Chiefs, bringing their SOS down. Some had to do it twice.

There's nothing that you can do about schedules. Hell, based on the SOS prior to week 1, I believe Denver had one of the 5 toughest schedules. Playing 6 games vs KC, OAK and SD with their horribly down seasons didn't help their cause.

Broncos were 6-0 in the division - a sad cast of characters indeed.
Broncos had 7 other wins:
- 2 against 10 win BAL and CIN
- 1 against 8 win PIT
- 3 against 7 win CAR, NOS, TB
- 1 against 5 win CLE

Denver had 3 losses to NE, HOU and ATL - 2 of those on the road, and they were a combined 37-11.

Denver wound up with the most wins in the AFC, that's all that matters and teams like HOU, ATL, NE - they all played their share of spare teams too. And, they all failed to win their own share of big matchups.

Patriots lost to AZ, BAL, SEA and SF... the friggin Cards in NE, BAL before their rash of injuries and then 2 legit contenders in the NFC. So, they didn't crush all the big teams either.

Houston? Lost to Packers, Patriots, Vikings & Colts... with the Jags and Lions taking them to OT. So, they lost to some big teams too.

Atlanta? Same deal there, but they lost to the Saints, Panthers and Bucs.

Of all the big teams at play here - the Falcons had the worse losses compared to HOU, DEN and NE.

But, you guys run with this however you like...

The road to New Orleans goes through Denver now for the AFC.

Quarterback: Peyton Manning (DEN)

We weren’t the only ones to wonder if Peyton Manning would be anything like the player he once was. Incredibly, he’s come back and looks better than ever. With more talent around him than than he has had in the past Manning has been exceptional. He leads our grading for quarterbacks by some distance.
Quote:
Edge Defender: Von Miller (DEN)

See what we did here? Miller plays the 4-3 outside linebacker role but any player who rushes the passer on 75.9% of drop-backs (the next 4-3 OLB was 29%) is an edge rusher in our book. As hard to block as any player in the league, Miller ended the year with 86 quarterback disruptions and 15 tackles for loss (not including sacks). Truly a beast of a player.
Quote:
Champ Bailey (DEN) – The more we thought about it the more the job Bailey does covering a team’s top receiver goes underappreciated. A tight selection with Tim Jennings and Chris Harris both earning consideration here.

Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has been named the AFC offensive player of the week.

Manning threw for three touchdowns and 304 yards on 23-of-29 passing in Denver’s 38-3 win over Kansas City on Sunday.

It is the 23rd time he’s been named offensive player of the week, which ties him with Patriots quarterback Tom Brady for the most in league history. (The NFL started the award in 1984.)

This is the eighth time a Broncos player has been named player of the week this season, including Manning after Week 6.

Osweiler: Nothing better than being Peyton's No. 2

So, he's taken advantage of his apprenticeship by watching Manning's every move, scribbling copious notes and mimicking his mentor's notorious work ethic and preparation.

''There's no greater blueprint,'' said Osweiler, who also hopes to pick up some pointers from another pre-eminent passer this offseason in Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers, who waited in the wings for three years behind Brett Favre.

Osweiler said he's thrilled to be in Manning's shadow and insists he'll gladly bide his time while learning as much as he can from one of the game's greats.

As Manning's backup, Osweiler only gets a handful of throws each week at practice, but he does get to pick the perfectionist's brain while Caleb Hanie runs the scout team. Osweiler doesn't just stay on the sideline, either; he stands behind the offense ''so I can try to see what Peyton's seeing and I use that as a mental rep and put myself through the play.''

Manning has also taken time to tutor Osweiler, who's almost 15 years his junior.

''I've always tried to choose the right time to ask it because he's very busy with very important things, but he's been more than happy to help me out,'' Osweiler said. ''There's even times where in a meeting he'll pause the tape and be like, 'Hey, Brock,' and get my attention and point something out to me. And that's obviously not something that a lot of quarterbacks do, if any. And for him to take the time and do that is pretty special.''

Broncos boss John Elway loved Osweiler's size, strength and spunk and used a second-round pick on him last April after the tall passer threw for 4,036 yards and 26 touchdowns in his one season as the Sun Devils' starter in 2011.

Had he stayed in school for his senior season, Osweiler, who turned 22 last month, might have been a top-10 pick in this upcoming draft, which is light on marquee quarterbacks.

Sure, Knowmo. Keep telling yourself that Assweiler was a potential 1st round pick.

Did you know that the Chiefs drafted Jimmy Wilkerson in the 6th round some years ago with the knowledge that had he stayed in school he could have been a 1st rounder?

The Packers grabbed Tori Gurley, WR in the 7th round from South Carolina with the knowledge that had he stayed in school beyond his SOPHOMORE year, teams would have drafted him in the first.

Where are those guys now?

I don't really care if Osweiler pans out or not. What I find much more important is that we have an FO that places the #1 priority on QB. That way, if you are right about his ability to play QB, I am certain that he will not last 4 years here just because he's the GM's pet.

Brock was drafted in the second round, not the 6th or 7th.
