He is...THE MOST INTERESTING MAN IN THE WORLD

I was chatting with Guru tonight and referenced this Dos Equis beer campaign.

He had never heard of it (WTF?!).

Well, he DOES live in Topeka and works graveyard shift (the least interesting man in the world?!)

Chime in if you've seen this (or not) and like it.

(I bought a sixer of DE tonight just because I like these ads)

I've seen him before in Dos Equis ads in magazines like Maxim where he was sitting in a booth with three girls half his age. The girls would be jacked up in evening wear and he would be wearing a $1000 suit and puffing a cigar looking like 'yeah, kinda slow tonight'.

The one thing about pictures over film is that you form your own opinion.

My outlook was that he was mafioso or a south american drug lord. That's probably because I read too many true crime novels. But my point is, I've already had a mental visual of him and the commercials don't fit so I do not like them but only for that reason.

If it weren't for the magazine ads it would be a great starter commercial for something to build a series on.

But that's just me.

I got the impression he was Portugese. I can't point out why, it just is.

As far as beer commercials go, or hell, any commercials ... those are pretty good.

Agreed. "Highlife Man" has got to be one of the most well-written ad campaigns of all time.

The ads are cool and XX is a pretty tasty beer. I liked it before the ads though.

heh--Errol Morris is a f***ing ad genius! this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSbZ8...eature=related

and "scurvy" were my favorites. A dude at Weiden & Kennedy told me that it was an unsuccessful campaign for Miller. I think instead their brand of beer was the loser. Hard to prop up domestic swill no matter how good the agency is--- Coors seems to have the right mind-set when going after the cheap six-pack target. Shame because Morris' stuff is HOF material.
