Report: Tom Brady destroyed his phone. Appeal has been denied.
Nope.....he did nothing wrong.
http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/...eld/ar-AAdBouH The NFL is going to reject Tom Brady’s appeal and uphold the four-game suspension he is facing for his alleged role in Deflategate, according to one report. Stephen A. Smith said on ESPN’s “First Take” Tuesday morning that a source told him Roger Goodell will not reduce or overturn Brady’s suspension. Perhaps more shocking, Smith cited a separate source who told him Brady actually destroyed his own personal cell phone rather than just refusing to turn it over. We have known all along that the bigger issue here is Brady’s lack of cooperation during the Ted Wells investigation. The NFL was furious that Brady wouldn’t give up “relevant” text messages and emails that might help clarify his level of involvement — or lack thereof — in Patriots equipment managers allegedly letting air out of game balls. Smith clarified that he was told by one source that the NFL is going stand by its four-game suspension within the next 24-48 hours, whereas the information about Brady destroying his cell phone was just “something I heard.” It was almost as if he was downplaying the information knowing how much of a bombshell the rumor was. Reports in recent weeks have been all over the place regarding Brady’s appeal. There has been some indication that the two sides are working toward a settlement, though reports like this one make that seem unlikely. If the NFL upholds the suspension, no one would be stunned. If someone can prove that Brady destroyed his cell phone, that would be tough for the New England Patriots quarterback to explain. |

As I understand it, there is nothing in the CBA requiring the player to turn over the phone. The only prior violation anyone can identify is Brett Favre, who faced a relatively light fine. Brady's suspension and fine are WAY more punitive, arguably violating the "law of the shop". What's more interesting, academically, is the NFL's entire knee-jerk, ad hoc system of justice. Forget Brady. Just look at everything that has gone on during Goodell's entire tenure. It's been pretty weak actually, and the federal courts have repeatedly stomped on what he has done. Even former Commissioner Tagliabue stomped on what he did in one prior appeal where Tags was the arbitrator. Whatever. We'll see where it all ends up.

I agree Brady must comply with the rules. Not much to argue about there.

What I really think is that the evidence is pretty damn weak, and the Patriots and Brady got an amazingly harsh punishment on that weak evidence.

As far as the federal case goes, you do know that's just a bluff, right? If they bring it to a federal courtroom, EVERYTHING is fair game. The court would subpoena all kinds of information, including the phone...emails, contacts and other stuff of coaches and equipment guys...everything. No ****ing way they want this to go outside of the protected realm of the NFL where the league can destroy evidence and slap wrists. |

I don't buy it.
The NFL will be looking at a serious court battle with Brady, something the league won't want. But hey, **** Goodell. I hope he goes down in flames. |

they offered a way to clear his name of these allegations and he refused in every way possible and then destroyed the phone.
If you still think he's innocent, it's ONLY because of the jersey he wears on Sunday. It's a shame the fans of cheating teams don't, you know, try to hold their team accountable for making moves that hurt the integrity of not only their teams, but the league as a whole. |

Ugh. Thank you for proving my point. Very few people understand this process. Everyone just leaps to conclusions based on what they hear and think they know. I'm not getting into it, but you're wrong. That isn't the path Brady will take.
