I agree that Gordon is streaky at the plate, but you can't deny his defense. He's the best defensive left fielder in the American League.

Hope Holland gets a chance if another pitcher drops out. His K ratio this year is sick.

FWIW last night on BBTN Rick Sutcliffe felt that Shields deserved the nod over Verlander. Granted it does not mean much, but at least someone in the media notices that he is pitching better than his W-L would suggest.

Carlos Beltran is starting for the NL. He may end up being a HOF guy. He's making a case for himself.
