Yeah, so I saw a lot of movies this weekend.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age - Mediocre, at best. Slow and dragged on. Shorten it to 2 hours and it's golden. It's not, so it fails.

Michael Clayton - Amazing. Everything about it is awesome. However, it's VERY complex and mind bending. You have to think, so be prepared. I still feel like I'm missing key details of exactly what happened. Gotta see it again.

Across the Universe - Perfect is one word that comes to mind. It just works. And, contrary to many people I bet, the movie is best viewed sober. Trust me.

Hall Pass was ****ing hilarious. As a SM West alumn it's good to see Jason Sedeikis doing well.

I watched Elephant two nights ago. It's a bit deliberate, especially for an 80 minute film, but the cinematography is tremendous.

I thought Hall Pass sucked. Ass. It's one of those movies that takes a hilarious premise and ruins it.

I'm likely going to get flamed for this -

I caught the tail end of Star Trek Nemesis last night. I turned it on literally as the Scimitar and the Enterprise start the final battle. I enjoyed that whole sequence much more than I remember when I saw it way back when. I know the whole B4 and dune buggy crap pretty much ruined the movie, but the final scene was great. I type that knowing just how stupid it is to have the power matrix thing for the Big Damn Weapon to be located and unshielded on the bridge of the Scimitar. Still liked it.

The new one was better than I expected. As someone else mentioned here, the filmmaking is better, the performances solid. But the new one just seems to lack the "heart" - the intangibles - of the original.

I meant the new one. Of course, I have seen the original many times. The new one was not super duper fantastic, but it was okay. I thought Jaden Smith acted okay in it. Its hilarious at times when you can see certain facial expressions that look just like his dad. And, of course, I love Jackie Chan in movies.
