NFL MVP

Interesting debates on these every year, here's one from ESPN.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/12...demarco-murray

Peyton, Rodgers, Brady, Murray, Watt, Luck...

Where would you guys lean? I don't know, part of me tends to lean towards Murray quite honestly. I think Peyton's crazy 2013 year hurts the image of what he's done in 2014, especially when compared against the other QBs that are getting all the MVP talk. Peyton's right there with them.

Aside from all that, I think it's a pretty even race among the QBs in the discussion... I wouldn't give it Watt, I think my vote with be DeMarco.

Actually, they are. Randle and Dunbar combine for 328 yards on 60 carries. That's a 5.4 YPC average to Demarco's 4.8. Plus they have two TDs, good for 1 TD every 30 carries. Murray only scores a TD on every 32 carries on average.

It's tough to say how much is him and how much can be attributed to other factors.

He shares a back field with a top 8 QB. He's got a top 3 WR on one side with one of the most explosive #2 WRs in the league on the other side. Jason Witten is the TE version of Old Faithful and that offensive line is like all 1st and 2nd rounders playing up to their full potential. Not to mention the coaching staff finally recognizes the importance of the run game and have been feeding that mother****er carries all season long. He has 77 more carries than the next guy..

Still, I argued that Murray was a top 5 back last season when he was criminally underused. He's big, he's fast, he's strong. It's obvious that he's very good.

They will give it to Manning just because he is Manning.

I think that's a flawed stance... remove the starting QB from most NFL teams and they become a hot mess. At the very least, they would be projected to lose 2-3 games simply because of the QB loss.

Take Murray's production away and make Romo what he's been the last few years, and Dallas doesn't have 10 wins. Look at Romos stats and attempts the last 3 seasons. Great stats, aside from the INTs in 2012. They weren't winning though... they weren't balanced.

Romo will throw the ball a 100 fewer times in 2014... and they won't finish 8-8 for the first time since 2010, when they were 6-10.

Romo has played great - no doubt, statistically on par with the last few years... he hasn't had the mistakes because he isn't carrying the load. That's Murray.

Nah, they won't give it to Manning because he's likely to have 12-14 fewer TDs than he had in 2013. They'll likely give it to Rodgers, per the consensus here and he has fewer TDs that Manning does this year. #crazylogic #murrayshouldgetMVP

This just isn't right, man. He's got Ridley, Vereen, Blount and a serviceable offensive line. He's got a pretty good defense. He's got one of the best coaches of all time.. (Well, that's what people say anyway).

Dude, you're not getting this. Peyton only has 2 more TDs than Rodgers while also throwing 6 more INTs and also attempting 60 more passes. Those 2 TDs simply aren't worth 6 additional turnovers.

Peyton's TD:INT ratio is 3.something:1 to Rodgers' 7:1. Rodgers has a higher passer rating, QBR, YPC, and YPA.

I missed that when I saw the schedule. Good catch. Point stands... The NFC East schedule is an absolute joke. That's the biggest reason the Cowboys have as many wins as they do.

That's not going to matter to voters. But it matters to me.

It will be Rodgers. He's been amazing this year. Watt plays on defense, so he'd have to do something like break the sack record to get serious consideration. This league is all about passing, and Rodgers is the best there is at it.

YPC, is that yards per completion? (If it's yards per carry, who gives a damn quite honestly, none of these guys are big rushing QBs)

Again, I am getting it - what I've said is that it's not vastly different between Brady, Rodgers and Manning. I'm also not advocating Manning should win it, honestly it means little to me. I started this for the debate.

QBR - Rodgers 111.2 / Manning 106.4
Completion % - Manning 67.1 / Rodgers 64
YPA - Rodgers 8.38 / Manning 8.03
YPC - Manning 11.97 / Rodgers 8.37

Yards and TDs favor Manning. INTs favor Rodgers. It's honestly splitting hairs to me, but that's cool.

Vereen's been great in the passing game, but lousy running between the tackles
Ridley's been on IR for most of the season.
Blount wasn't playing at all in Pitt, was cut, and made it all the way through waivers.

Not an argument, at all ... but if you've watched Peyton Manning this year, and I have, there is no argument for him being an MVP over Aaron Rodgers. At all. Not close.
