They were not. Jim Johnson's passing had a lot to do with the fall of Andy Reid's regime, but a huge part of it was poor drafting. Especially defense.

Taking Brandon Graham over JPP and Earl Thomas was the one that irked people most. It was not hindsight either. Everyone on Eagles forums wanted one of those two or Pouncey. When Graham was selected at the time everyone was so pissed. Turned out the fans were right.

The Eagles took two 2nd round safeties in 2010 and 2011. One was already cut(Jaiquawn Jarrett) and one is probably going to be cut(Nate Allen). Then you go back and look at awful defensive selections like Victor Abiamiri, Jerome McDougle, Matt McCoy, etc. They've had some poor offensive picks too, but they have gotten a lot better. DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, LeSean McCoy were all nice picks.

It looks like after a huge drought of defensive picks the Eagles finally rebounded with Fletcher Cox and Mychal Kendricks.

But the Eagles were not the greatest drafting team under Reid. Especially defense. So many wasted picks, it killed the team.

I'm skeptical of all the available QBs coming out, but at the same time I know we need to roll the dice on one in our first few picks.

I don't think the mobile QB is or ever will be a viable option unless the guy knows how to read defenses and throw the ball. Geno could be a nice balance because he's more mobile than the average QB. But the fact is that Andy Reid's defense for years are not well suited for a pocket QB because his o-lines have been pretty bad in a lot of years he's coached.

Yeah, welll, **** 'em.

There's a big difference between passing on and/or not making an easy move for a Franchise QB, and FORCING a guy into that position, just because.

Smith at #1 overall feels like a MASSIVE reach on January 3rd, 2013.

We've come full circle. Guys who called anyone who wasn't enamored with Sanchez and Clausen "scared of drafting a QB" now don't see Geno Smith as a legit prospect.

Tyler Wilson will have a better NFL career than Geno Smith and Matt Barkley.

Do you really think Cam Newton was a better passer coming out than Geno?

The dude had ONE season in college.

Geno is a fantastic prospect.

This sounds word for word what I was saying about Sanchez in 2009.
