Is it a terrible idea to stay home alone on Thanksgiving?
My 1st thanksgiving since divorce, kids go to the ex-wife. Can't really travel to any family since I have to work Friday.

I have a few invites from some friends, but won't know most of the people there. They are all like 30+ minutes away too. I'm kind of digging the idea of just hunkering down by myself, eating whatever I have on hand, playing video games and watching football and movies all day. I might read a book, but it's pretty unlikely.

Just curious if anyone else has gone down this path and greatly regretted not spending thanksgiving with someone elses family.

Guess it depends on the type of person you are. I could see myself doing it. I could also see some people getting lonely/emotional over it.

One year when I was in Boston and didn't want to go to my older sister's for Thanksgiving. The rest of my immediate family was in Florida. So I went to Plymouth Mass to see the Mayflower and the rock the Pilgrim's landed on while I ate a turkey sub.

It was rather peaceful. But that rock was a dinky little thing. I was shocked.

I live in colorado - have a bud and some edibles handy

Yeah, the more I think about it the more I think this is the plan. It just seems like an hour of driving and hanging out with someone else's family is a waste of my chance to waste an entire day on football and fallout 4.
