Donald Trump on poll slump: 'I don't get it'

http://www.cnn.com/2015/10/27/politi...lls/index.html

Washington (CNN)Donald Trump said he doesn't understand his recent drop in polls, but he continued his attacks on Ben Carson, who has knocked him from the top spot in Iowa and -- in at least one survey -- nationwide among Republicans.

"I don't get it," Trump said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Tuesday. "I'm going there (to Iowa) actually today and I have tremendous crowds and I have tremendous love in the room and, you know, we seem to have hit a chord. But some of these polls coming out, I don't quite get it. "

Demos say Carson doing well with conservs and Trump with moderates. Weird that a conservative would like a pro-amnesty gun control advocate but it is what it is.

Iowa could turn out to be like a Huckabee win and then fade just as well.

I've been looking into Carson more lately, reading his site and other interviews. He doesn't put out a lot of detailed policies either. I like what he said about the Iraq war but what I've read lately is more NeoCons (including Glenn Beck) have been surrounding Carson. Plus his chief advisor is an big time Israel-Firster NeoCon. So now Carson is sounding more aggressive and warlike regarding the Ukraine, Syria etc. Says we're gonna get tough with them too. I said months ago, that I feared this would happen.

Plus he wants to use the Dept of Ed to spy on professors. That's supposed to be a conservative position? If education is supposed to be local, like he has said, why doesn't he just get rid of it?

Carson said he's going to make the welfare state more efficient. He's basically becoming a black Newt Gingrich.

pro-Trump or no, this kind of humility is not his brand.

This sound byte may end up hurting him more than any of his previous snark.

These 6 Corporations Control 90% Of The Media In America
Ashley Lutz Jun. 14, 2012, 9:49 AM 1,398,442 82
This infographic created by Jason at Frugal Dad shows that almost all media comes from the same six sources.

That's consolidated from 50 companies back in 1983.

NOTE: This infographic is from last year and is missing some key transactions. GE does not own NBC (or Comcast or any media) anymore. So that 6th company is now Comcast. And Time Warner doesn't own AOL, so Huffington Post isn't affiliated with them.

But the fact that a few companies own everything demonstrates "the illusion of choice," Frugal Dad says. While some big sites, like Digg and Reddit aren't owned by any of the corporations, Time Warner owns news sites read by millions of Americans.

I saw a blurb that sounded like he wanted to do something like that in public schools. That's a gigantic red flag IMO.

I get it that the Iowa caucuses are first but history has shown that thet dont mean shit when it comes to predicting the outcome of the eventual Republican nominee.

Huckabee
Santorium

This isn't rocket science, The Evangelical Christians have a disproportional representation in the caucuses than the general election or even the other states Republican primary's.

I don't see why well funded campaigns just don't skip the state.

At one point in time Dr. Ben Carson must have been a smart, thoughtful, sane man. He made it through medical school. He performed advanced pediatric brain surgery. There are quips about “brain surgeons” setting the bar for intelligence for a reason. And mentally ill people don’t usually last long as doctors. Yet the Ben Carson running for President appears to be very much suffering from an inability to form a rational thought, a total divorce from reality, a worldview so hedonistic that it rival that of his cartoon character opponent Donald Trump – except that Carson appears to actually believe the clinically insane things he says. Even as he rambles incoherently about the dangers of Muslim fanaticism, Ben Carson himself may be the poster child for the dangers of Christian fanaticism.

Carson may have talked himself out of contention when he stated his belief that a Muslim should not be President of the United States. Even in a modern republican party where racist and prejudiced remarks are now the rule rather than the exception, he appears to have crossed the kind of line with his blatancy to which even the conservatives who vaguely agree with him will feel compelled to move on to another republican candidate who can better shroud his prejudice in the requisite code words and rationalizations to as to be palatable.

But whereas Trump appears to be saying prejudiced things in a calculated attempt to appeal to the lowest of the bottom-feeding of voters, Carson appears to sincerely believe the things he says. After backlash toward his remarks, he went into great detail on his Facebook page trying to explain why he believes that a Muslim shouldn’t be President. He went on and on about “Sharia law” and said that anyone who literally believes every word of the Quran isn’t fit for high office. What he appeared to miss is that anyone who literally believes every word of the Bible isn’t fit for office either.

Just this week Joe Biden reiterated that his personal religious belief is that abortion is immoral, while also making clear that he didn’t feel it’s the role of government to legislate such personal religious beliefs. That’s a distinction which makes Biden fit for office, as he is able to differentiate between how he thinks thing should be, and what he thinks the law should be. Ben Carson appears to have no such filter. He simply views “Christians” as virtuous by default and “Muslims” as dangerous and evil by default. And that’s hauntingly familiar.

I’ve seen one too many smart and good natured friend or acquaintance join up with a fanatical evangelical Christian church over the years, and gradually descend into incoherently fanatically racist madness. Every other sentence is a (factually incorrect) reference to the Bible or what Christ stood for. Immigrants shouldn’t be allowed in. Atheists should be deported. War is always justified if Muslims are dying, because they’re religious fanatics. Nevermind that the so-called “Christian” offering that worldview is every bit as much of a religious fanatic.

What do you think Ben Carson’s IQ might be? Has to be at least 150, right? This man was literally a brain surgeon, and by all accounts a good one. And now he speaks in a manner so paranoid and incoherent that if he were standing on a street corner he might be confused for a mentally compromised homeless person. When you listen to him speak, you can still hear the intellect in there. He’s still thinking deeply, drawing complex conclusions. It’s just that, presumably due to his decision to get involved with the wrong fundamentalist Christian church, he sounds like a smart man who has descended into sheer madness.

Did he go insane of his own accord and then join an insane church, or did it happen in the opposite order? Only those who knew him before he lost his mind would be able to tell us that. But at a time when mainstream Muslims are increasingly expected to actively differentiate themselves from the small minority of Muslim fundamentalists who have lost their minds, Ben Carson is unwittingly serving as a reminder that it might be a good idea for mainstream Christians to differentiate themselves from the small minority of Christian fundamentalists who have lost their minds in the exact same manner.
