USA Today predicts Chiefs at 4-12 for 2014

I could see it happening but really 6-8 wins seems pretty doable.

AFC West

Broncos 12-4 (2): Could be better than 2013 team even if wins and offensive output dip. But schedule is murderous.

Chargers 8-8: Last year's schedule allowed late-season charge. This year's could easily produce late-season slide.

Chiefs 4-12: Tight salary cap meant crippling free agent defections, and they didn't sufficiently reload in draft.

Raiders 3-13: Best thing influx of over-the-hill vets can do is change culture. Carr, Mack promise brighter days ahead.

There are far less questions this year.

I would expect this to be his best season as a professional to be honest.

Homer? Fan? Sure, but its been well documented that Alex Smith usually plays better the second year in a system.
Can I see the documentation?

We shoulda drafted geno Smith with 1.1 in 2013?? Surely he's a better qb than Alex Smith... Err... Wait!! I don't understand what a guy has to do to make people happy! Have a better season than a qb has had here in years? Set a franchise playoff record for td's? All while dealing with a rag tag wr group, and his first season in AR system?? We should have put him in on defense during the playoff game?? Some straight Hateraid drink people on here. Lmao!

How do you figure that?

Almost universally, everyone has said they think 4 wins is a ridiculous low-ball number. Even those pessimistic about the team's likelihood of avoiding record regression are putting the Chiefs somewhere between 6-8 wins.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least to find that playoff titans and SB victors have a woeful preseason record over whatever timeline you choose. Teams that press in preseason generally need to develop a culture of winning artificially. Teams that evaluate in preseason generally lose meaningless games.

Im sticking to 7-9. Thus far, most every concern that most of us had regarding this off season have been reinforced this preseason namely the OL, DB's and Wr's. This team has slipped. Combine that with the seemingly tougher schedule on paper and its easy to predict doom. It doesn't help that the NFL rules will emphasize defensive holding this season which will put even more pressure on one of the weakest parts of the team. That part could be UGLY.

Probably meaning OL losses but 4-12 is harsh. 7-9 because of our OL and schedule is more likely what happens.
