Oh, come on, you're being ridiculous. This is 2012. There's no way an NFL team could go a whole season with 8 touchdown passes. Let me look it up and I'll ... I'll...

Oh, god. How is that even possible? I don't even understand how that is possible.

Wow ... I thought that was sarcasm. 8 passing TDs in 16 games... that is truly remarkable. Is that a new NFL low?

Who's Geno Smith?

I'm going to have to do a little research. I have difficulty imagining a lower figure in the modern era.

That may be the single most telling statistic of the season in Kansas City.

I looked at the last 20 years (except 1994 - nfl site glitch), and apparently it's not out of the norm for the lowest team to be under 10 TD passes. In about half the years the bottom team had nine or fewer, and the worst are shown below.

I would still like to improve our numbers, though.

In 2006, the Raiders had only 7 TD passes.

In 2000, the Bengals had only 6 TD passes.

In 1998, the Eagles had only 7 TD passes.

In 1995, the Buccaneers had only 5 TD passes.

In 1993, the Bears had only 7 TD passes.

Also surprising is just how many of these teams had solid rushing games. No 1500 yd rushers, but a few 1000+ rushers.

You should get a few TD passes just on jump balls, tips, and guys busting short slants/missed tackles. This number is just appalling.

'Appalling' is a really good word that for some reason has fallen out of my vocabulary. I need to start using that word more, and not just about the Chiefs. Thanks for the reminder.

Actually, it just tells you that yards per completion is a really underrated stat, and it's not even a stat. He makes up for the mistakes with big plays. He just chucks it all over the place like a badass. And he will only get better.

Luck had a 7 yard YPA while completing only 55%. Compare that to Ponder who had a higher rating with a 6 yard YPA at 63%. Nobody can tell me Ponder had a better year. It isn't even close. Watch the games.

Those stats are misleading. Everyone knows that Matt Cassell has never had above a 50 passer rating in a legit sense.
