Corrections Officer And Inmate Plan To Wed PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. -- Sara Camarillo, 29, a former corrections officer at the Pierce County jail met and fell in love with accused bank robber Jimi James Hamilton while she was supposed to be guarding him at the jail. Camarillo left her job because of her relationship with Hamilton and could face criminal charges. According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, Camarillo has tried to arrange a wedding behind bars. “That’s not going to happen, they won’t be getting married in the jail, that’s complete disrespect to our people. He’s been nothing but disruptive, assaulting our staff. She ought to be ashamed of herself,” Ed Troyer with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department said. Camarillo was arrested in September after her relationship with Hamilton was revealed. While in jail, Hamilton has been accused of assaulting other corrections officers with his own fecal matter and urine. Camarillo was in the courtroom when Hamilton pleaded guilty to two counts of bank robbers, he turned to her briefly before the judge ordered him to turn around. “Face the front, sir. This isn’t social time,” the judge said. Camarillo smiled at Hamilton throughout the proceeding but after he was taken away, she refused to talk about their planned wedding with KIRO 7 Eyewitness News. “Are you and Jimi going to get married? Can we talk to you about this? Do you want to talk about marrying Jimi?” KIRO 7 Eyewitness News asked Camarillo. “Uh-uh,” Camarillo responded. Camarillo and Hamilton asked the judge who oversaw Tuesday’s guilty plea to marry them, but she said no, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reported. Hamilton will be sentenced Wednesday. He faces nearly 11 years in prison. |
