Each patient now has a time limit to get better. If a patient comes in my clinic with a heart attack; I have 5 days (hypothetical) to get him better. After that the insurance wants me to fix him but not pay a dime. I actually have to give a refund back to the Insurance company. Then they wonder why mother****ers are going out and shooting people up? It's because Obama wants Insurance companies to quadruple their profits at the expense of quality of health being provided to honest hard working Americans. At the same time companies are required to give Insurance to their employees, meaning more profit for insurance companies.

Hospitals are closing all over the place. The one I was born in reported a loss of 14 million last year and is now closing down. Another great hospital is firing 40% of it's doctors soon. Our new system is horrible and discourages good doctors from working inside United States.

Obama has been nothing but a tyrant who has introduced socialism to this country and is slowly taking away our rights. People complained about Bush water boarding three high valued targets now we directly assassinate Americans with no accountability.

Lord knows I am no fan of the POTUS but there really is no need to make things up to argue about. As of April my company will be offer only one health plan with a very high out of pocket deduct. It comes with a HSA but the problem with that is I can't use it on my son who is on my coverage because my X has him as a dependent for tax purposes. At this point I don't see the affordable care act making things more affordable.

I'm still waiting for an explanation from someone with a functioning prefrontal cortex how adding a couple million uninsured ride the tailcoats of those who pay their bills will make things more affordable.

If you put it on TV with pretty background and people cheering you could get most people to jump off a building by convincing them they could fly.

CVS Caremark is requiring each of its 200,000 employees enrolled in the company’s health plan to undergo height, weight and blood assessments or face a paying an extra $50 a month — or $600 a year — in health insurance costs.

While patient-privacy activists have cried foul, Michael DeAngelis, a CVS spokesman, explained that the goal is health.

“We want to help our employees to be as healthy as they can be, which is why we decided to implement this plan,” he explained in an email to The Daily Caller. “In fact, we have been working for a number of years on ways they can improve their health through preventive measures.”

The new mandate is reportedly causing a stir among patient-privacy advocates.

“This is an incredibly coercive and invasive thing to ask employees to do,” Patient Privacy Rights founder Deborah Peel told the Boston Herald, noting that such policies are becoming more prevalent as health costs increase.
“Rising health care costs are killing the economy, and businesses are terrified,” she continued to the Herald. “Now, we’re all in this terrible situation where employers are desperate to get rid of workers who have costly health conditions, like obesity and diabetes.”

Citing a National Business Group on Health survey, DeAngelis noted that 79 percent of “large employers” offered a health assessment, with 76 percent including incentives for completion.

“To encourage a higher level of participation in our wellness review, we reviewed best practices and determined that an additional cost for those who do not complete the review was the most effective way to incent our colleagues to improve their health care and manage health costs,” he explained.

The Huffington Post, however pointed out that a 2012 Kaiser survey found that just 18 percent of employers requested that their employees undergo an assessment, with some imposing a penalty for noncompliance.
CVS contends that patient privacy will remain protected, in a manner “consistent with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act)] regulations.”

“All personal health data from these screenings are collected and reviewed by a third party administrator that supports the CVS Caremark Wellness Program and this data is not shared with CVS Caremark — rather it is designed to help employees make the best decisions about their own health care,” DeAngelis added.

CVS Caremark is the largest pharmacy health-care provider in the country.

Our company does this shit to. BMI is such as bad way to determine risk IMO I've been up to as much as 245 lbs, but probably 12% BF and they damn near label me obese.

According to my BMI I'm 2% away from being labeled "obese". Your lucky if you could pinch an inch on my belly when I'm sitting down.

I live at 10,000 feet above sea level, ride my bike close to 40 miles a week just getting to work and back.

I'm just going by what you said--that you had to strip naked and they checked over your entire body. That's what you ****ing said. And you said this was required in order to even get the job. You said this stuff. Don't get all pissy about it when it was your story.

Actually my premium did go down a little It is just that the fist $5000 for my daughter and I and another $3500 for my son comes out of my pocket before anything gets covered. To be fair there are some provisions of O-Care that have been a positive for some friends of mine. Those dealing with preexisting conditions. I think the end game is a fully socialized version of healthcare which might not be any worse than this combination of the Gov telling private companies how to mismanage their business.

Op-ed: A year later, we’re worse off with the Affordable Care Act

An anniversary is often a joyous occasion, a time to commemorate and celebrate an important milestone. For America’s families, businesses, employees, and consumers, however, March 23rd, the third anniversary of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), might not fit into the same category of bliss.

The vast majority of people in America believe that our health care system needs improvement, especially when it comes to access and affordability of care. Yet, while the 2010 health care law began with good intentions, it quickly ventured off into negative territory.

In a difficult economy, and an otherwise uncertain spending and regulatory environment, ACA leaves small employers with a large paperwork burden, higher costs, and an even greater degree of uncertainty.

The news for these businesses is not good. Many employers have seen their premiums increase or plans disappear entirely. The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) has said that, in a recent study, one in eight employers reported that their health insurance providers had notified them that their plans would be terminated. Another recent study by human resources consulting firm Adecco reveals that nearly a third of employers said they stopped hiring or cut their workforce because of the law.

Our sister organization, the American Action Forum, has research that shows that regulations contained in Obamacare cost private entities $24 billion, as well as millions of lost hours dealing with paperwork. These regulatory costs are placing significant pressure on small businesses, of which 2.3 million are Hispanic-owned enterprises.

Uncertainty about ACA, including when and how it will be implemented, pervades the small business community. As concern and confusion about the law’s impact on future insurance premium costs grows, so does the anxiety of small business owners about how to meet their payrolls and profit margins, hindering the creativity and innovation needed for growth and success.

Small businesses are suffering. And our seniors are facing significant change as well.

One of the most alarming aspects of ACA is what it is does to Medicare.

The law contains $716 billion in cuts to the current Medicare program. Those cuts affect current enrollees’ choices in care, as well as their health providers’ plans. Instead of using this money to shore up the program and strengthen it for our seniors, Obamacare is slated to use the $716 billion to fund a large expansion of government-subsidized health insurance for everyone else.

Some of the Obamacare cuts, like those that slash the Medicare Advantage (MA) plans, will disproportionally affect Hispanics. Compared to the average Medicare beneficiary, Hispanics are twice as likely to enroll in Medicare Advantage. In fact, a study by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services found that 38 percent of Hispanics and 31 percent of African Americans on Medicare were enrolled in Medicare Advantage, compared to 27 percent of whites.

“Low income beneficiaries and minorities, especially Hispanics, will bear the brunt of the MA cuts,” according to a study by the Heritage Foundation. The study estimates that, “the MA cuts in [Obamacare] are projected to cause Hispanics to lose $2.3 billion in benefits. . . Almost 300,000 Hispanics…will lose access to MA.”

A lot has happened since Obamacare became the law of the land in March 2010. While some of its impact on our families, businesses, and economy have come into focus, others will not become clear until its full-scale implementation begins in 2014. That gives Congress and the President some time to work together to stop the effects of the law’s regulations and taxes. In the meantime, holding off on any anniversary cake and candles is just what the doctor ordered.
