How to tie office trash bags? - Page 3

So, is there a preferred method? One of the top 1,000 things that I hate in the world is a trash can bag that falls into the trash can as it fills up with trash. I've noticed the professional custodial engineers somehow tie the trash bag in order to reduce its diameter around the lip of the can, thereby decreasing the chance of it falling into the can. My office trash bag invariably falls into the can after reaching about 60% capacity. That's unacceptable.

yes I read it, and I see nothing in your post indicating that you have tied a trash bag....so if you haven't ever tied a trash bag, then I am certainly done with this, but if you have and these trash bags are to small, buy bigger ones....

Never mind her, I know what you're talking about Donger.

The funny thing is, my sister-in-law does what you're talking about. She has one of those stainless-steel cans with the foot release lids in her kitchen. She pulls the bag over the edge of can and then ties a knot at one end. She stretches the bag, so that it's tight and then does a knot at the end and somehow this works. The bag never falls in.

I've tried to duplicate it without her showing me how to do it, but I can never get it right. It's funny 'cause every holiday, birthday, or for whatever reason I'm over at my brother's for dinner/entertaining- I end up being the nice guy and doing the trash. I'll put the bag back in and moments later, she will have mysteriously fixed it. I don't know how she does it, but I can always ask. You might have to wait until Thanksgiving though...
