SNF: Steelers vs. Bengals - Week 7

The Fighting Roethlisbergers vs. the Bengals. I think this is Cincy's first ever appearance on NBC's SNF.

Like I said.. I don't give a **** about better than what we have now. We have ****ing Cassel, Quinn, and Stanzi.

There's at least 29 QBs in the league that are better than what we have. I want someone that's going to compete with Rodgers, Brady, Brees, E. Manning, etc...

No one is going to give up a first round pick for a 30 year old 2nd year QB.

If Matt Cassel can be traded to the Chiefs for a second rounder on a limited resume, so can Weeden on a better resume. I wouldn't rule out being able to get a 2nd round pick for him, if I'm the Browns. There are several teams that would gladly shop for a stopgap or several coaches/GMs who need a QB to save their job.

This is all, of course, dependent on the Browns drafting a QB in 2013. I believe they will.

Your whole recipe is dependent on the ridiculous idea that you build your team around an elite QB. These guys are once in a generation type of guys. And rarely do you get lucky and end up being really bad in a season where an elite QB happens to be at the top of the draft.

I'm sure the Panthers knew they weren't getting Eli when they drafted Cam Newton. Same with Miami when they drafted Tannehill. You can't just wait for the perfect QB to fall into your lap. You have to keep swinging. I mean, who really ****ing cares if the Chiefs burn a low first round pick for this kind of QB and he doesn't end up being a world-beater?

The only reason we are lucking into a QB is because our coach is so horrendously bad that we're in a position to take one. If Romeo was half-competent, we'd again be sitting at a #20 draft position and people like you would suggest that there's no QB worth taking because he doesn't have Eli Manning upside.

2nd round pick is not the same value of the pick they used to draft him, and Cassel came with Vrabel for that 2nd round pick that the Chiefs gave up.

No, it's not. So let me rephrase. If you draft Weeden and are able to repackage him for a competitive pick in the future, it's still a great draft pick.

The one part of the recipe that other teams have used that we have not is drafting a QB in the first day of the draft.

I don't know what Andy Dalton turns out to be. But I'd be happy to have him right now. I'll tell you that much.

Andy Dalton will end up being just okay and will look better because he's throwing to a insane talented WR until his contract is up, Mike Brown gets hella cheap and AJ Green goes elsewhere.

I'm suddenly having difficulty with some of the "givens" being pronounced all over around this place.

Let me ask you a question or two, Mr. chiefzilla1501. All other things being equal like wide receivers, run game, defense, etc., do you think Philip Rivers has the raw skill and football acumen necessary to win a Super Bowl? How about Cutler? Does he?

With the right coaching staff, probably yes on Rivers. Not a fan of Cutler.

We have to deal with the reality. We deal with the delusion that we have to get Eli Manning or Peyton Manning. There are usually about 5 of those in a given decade. If you're one of the other 27 teams, you have to take chances and swing and miss. Trading for Cutler and Cassel wasn't a mistake. Relying so heavily on them as the answer instead of keeping swinging was the mistake.
