We had the ball for 1/6 of the second half.

Two drives after the last touchdown.

The first one ruined by a DAT drop and a blatantly missed PI

The second one ruined by a penalty and Andy going full retard on 2nd and 14.

If I’m Mahomes, I’m looking for the door out of this shit show.

It’s just impossible to win when you don’t have the ball and your teammates, coaches and the refs are working against you.

It's not a secret. Seems like there's been some analytical pushback about the importance of time of possession and run defense, but it makes sense. Not even as much for pure TOP but you're shortening the game and limiting the number of total drives Mahomes can hurt you. It's really the same in basketball and hockey... when you play an explosive offense you just try to slow them down and limit their offensive opportunities. It sure isn't going to guarantee a win but it seems smarter than standing in the middle of the ring and going toe to toe with a better offense.
