2014-2015 NBA off-season Lebron goes home thread.

I will update this when the schedule is announced in a couple of weeks, but I will open with the new uniforms for the Charlotte Hornets below.

Blatt is an offensive genius who adapts to the personnel he has. He will do just fine. He's known to get more out of less, and wins wherever he goes. I also assume that LeBron has an idea of what he's getting into since his friend played for Blatt for three years and LeBron has even been over there to watch him play.. Not to mention playing against Blatt coached teams in the Olympics.

Let's be careful about calling him an offensive genius.

But he's been groomed from really good offensive coaches and has a reputation for being extremely liked by players. And even if it is in a much easier league, he builds winners. Let's see if that translates on the NBA level. Different types of players, much higher level of competition.

Maybe do a little research on him, I'm far from the first person to call him that. Actually anyone who knows anything about him calls him that.

To be fair, he's probably more of a combination of Auerbach, Phil Jackson, Jack Ramsay and John Wooden.

But I would much rather have an experienced coach like that who has a bit of unknown than, say, Lionel Hollins or Byron Scott. Of course if we're comparing him to guys like Spoelstra or Doc Rivers, let alone Popovich, that's crazy talk right now. I would rather have an experienced coach in a different league than someone like Jason Kidd or Derek Fisher, who have never even assistant coached, let alone been a head coach.

I just don't understand how a coach of his experience level is held under so much more scrutiny in a league where washed out veteran coaches still hop from team to team, and former players with no experience are landing an extraordinary amount of jobs.
You'd rather have him than a guy who has actually won in the playoffs (Hollins)?

Are you just trying to be contrarian? 13 team passed on Hollins last year and 7 teams passed on him this offseason. If Mike Smith and Rex Ryan get fired after this year, they wouldn't be on the top of my list either.

Yes, I would rather hire unknowns like Steve Kerr or Blatt over a known like Hollins. I don't think Blatt was the best hire this offseason. As of right now, I'd put him as a middle of the road coach who could potentially much better or much worse. I don't know what he is. But it was still an interesting hire. How could anyone not think it isn't worth a shot?

He may be interesting and worth a shot, but I'm not sure I'd take him over Hollins.

Got maybe only 2 years of Lebron and hiring a coach who could be a dumpster fire.... Yeah makes sense.

You're entitled to that opinion. Hollins was a known yet wasn't coveted by anyone.

In the NFL, I'm the same way. Unless the coach was a stud in his first stint, I'd rather hire an unknown vs. a known.

The same can be said for most coaches entering their first gig. Unless your suggestion is to go with a safe candidate every single time. What's known about Blatt is that he typically has great relationships with his players. And he is very well versed in an offense that is run on many teams already. If teams are comfortable hiring guys like Derek Fisher who just retired, they shouldn't be uncomfortable hiring an experienced guy like Blatt even if he has no NBA experience.
