Chiefs agree to trade Alex Smith to Washington

Now you wait until March 14th for it to become official...

That almost matches what Alex did in 3 seasons with the Chiefs 2014,15,16 he threw 53 in those 3 combined. In fairness he did only play 15 games in 2 of those years but yeah it wouldn't have been much more
The comparison is so fun because it's incredibly uneven.

-Over his career Alex averages about 1.25 TD's per game. He's VERY consistent. He rarely throws multiple TD games and his TD's thrown and games played are usually within 5. Mahomes is averaging over 3 per game.

-Let's not forget that 20+ passing TD seasons are an anomaly for Alex Smith. He's only done it 3 times in his 13 year career. Mahomes had 22 TD's in his first six games this year. It took him 8 games to match Alex's career high TD mark.

-It gets better! Right now Mahomes has 2,901 passing yards this season. In 9 games. Alex Smith has only thrown for more yards than that in six seasons.

-Mahomes current sack %, even with all the OL injuries, is at 3.8%. The best Alex Smith has ever posted is a 5.4% sack rate.

-Alex Smith's career TD rate is 3.9%. No, seriously. His best season was 6.0% TD rate. Mahomes is at 9.1% right now. Which is a TD in about every 11 passes.

- Alex Smith has 12 total 300 yard games in his career so far. Mahomes has 8... in a row. So far.

- Alex Smith has had 3 games in his career in which he threw for 4 or more touchdowns. Mahomes has 5 4+ TD games this year.

I mean I can keep going. Mahomes current 86 QBR is almost 20 points higher than Alex's best season. Mahomes 13.8 yards per completion is boss. Alex's best season? Last year... with 11.9 YPC.

It's just a never ending parade of totally lopsided comparisons.

The scary thing is Mahomes is just starting and will learn and get even better. Scary for the rest of the NFL that is

But all Mahomes' weapons!!!

This offense is almost exactly the same as it was last season, just swap out Albert Wilson for Sammy Watkins. With Alex, we had a pretty good offensive unit but it disappeared for large swaths of games (and, really, the season).

With Pat, it's literally one of the best offenses in league history. There is no comparison.

Exactly. From a team perspective, it's just as staggering. With all of the weapons KC had, the chiefs only scored more than 30 points five times in 2018. They scored less than 20 four times. 10 or less TWICE. With ALL of those weapons?

This year KC has scored 30 or more points in 8 of 9 games. They've scored 40 or more three times. Their LOWEST point total was 27.

Three things changed. Watkins 'replaced' Albert Wilson. Mahomes replaced Alex Smith. Bienemy replaced Nagy.

I'll let you decide which had the biggest impact.

And Mahomes played 1 game with Wilson and he had over 150 yards receiving, which is more than Watkins has had in any game this year. This offense would have been amazing even if we didn’t get Watkins.

It already looked good when Mahomes played with a backup offensive line, Anthony Sausage, Akeem Hunt, Droptrious Harris, Wilson and Robinson vs Denver.

The lack of weapons was believable his first couple of years in KC. But there is 0 of that excuse the last couple NONE
