Monitors are a must. Though I remember being in the middle of "the act" with the wife and the baby starting to cry many times...Damnit!

Our stairs have a landing halfway down so there aren't that many stairs at a time (4 then 5) so not too bad.

I've got two issues with my twins right now. 1. I need to get them potty trained....which has it's own issues. 2. I've got one of them who wakes up in the middle of the night and likes to sleep out in the living room. It's like that little punk has an internal alarm clock. After 10 pm? Wake the **** up!

Talk to your ped. But it's generally best not to disrupt sleep patterns. It can lead to unrest, bed wetting, anxiety.
And seriously, if you have a boy get a non slamming toilet seat.

Our main issue with Sophia right now is she has kidney issues. They've ran all kinds of tests but basically her body doesn't regulate her thirst. If you weren't aware....she'd tell you constantly that she's thirsty and you'd give her fluids all of the time. In turn....she will chug everything you give her....and her kidneys can't handle the amount of fluid she's bringing in....so it will just pass it through. Potty training her is going to suck.

God bless her, I'm sure she'll be fine. Parents care means more than anything. Keep working with your peds. Such a pretty name.

Eh, we have a four story house (three stories living space). It's 55 stairs from the driveway to the master bedroom. With a TV on in even one room, I can barely hear anyone's voice on the same floor, let alone from the main floor to a bedroom with a closed door.

It may sound like overkill but without the video cameras, I'd pretty much never know when the baby is awake without physically walking into her room, which would of course, wake her up, defeating the purpose of a nap time.

Again, piece of mind is in play as well...

My daughter was nearly three before she became potty trained, even though she had a baby toilet in her bathroom and knew how to use it since age two. She doesn't drink a lot of water during the day but drinks water all night long. I have to prepare a sippy cup with ice cold water for her bedside every night.

Our pediatrician at the time, who was pretty stern, said "Put it on me. Tell her that Dr. Peter will be VERY disappointed if she doesn't use the potty".

It worked. She never used a diaper again.

Thanks. Yeah....she's doing ok other than us having to regulate her fluid intake. She doesn't know any better.....she just thinks that we're intentionally being assholes. lol

Both of the twins talk about using the potty. Getting them to sit down or tell us when they have to go needs some work.

Do you have the pink Fisher-Price potties that make sounds when they go? My daughter was scared of the sounds it made so I removed it.

Good luck!

Nope. Basic $12 potty from Wal-mart. Nothing special.

Potty training is tricky even if there aren't physical issues. My two youngest were trained by 2, my oldest wet the bed until he was 7. It kept him from going to sleep overs, etc. I used to cry about it I felt so bad for him, so helpless to help. But he's a motocross stud teenager with a hot Latina girlfriend now. It's tough being a parent.

The Heart Rate monitor is the bomb. I was a first time parent at age 42, my wife, 35. You read and read and read about everything (which scares you half to death) and SIDS might be the scariest of all.

The heart rate monitor, again, puts you at ease. My wife has always had trouble sleeping, even before babies, anything so having alarm makes a huge difference.

It went off one night and scared the living shit out of me. Fortunately, she just positioned herself too far from the center of the crib and it couldn't detect a heartbeat. It only happened once in three years but I'm glad we have it.
