Lone Survivor
Most of you have probably seen a trailer or two for this, if you ask me it looks pretty bad ass... the true story of a four man SEAL team tasked with taking out a top Al Qaeda leader in Afghanistan... anyone looking forward to it? I sure am, these kinda guys inspire heap big man crush in me.
Solid cast with Wahlberg, Bana, Ben Foster and Emile Hirsch... though i'm not sure I can buy Hirsch as a SEAL, we'll see... http://www.amazon.com/Lone-Survivor-.../dp/0316044695 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1091191/ http://www.lonesurvivorfilm.com/site - trailer here |

My guess is the Taliban would of happened on them killed them for propaganda. Claiming the SEALS slit there throats while tied up.
Those guys would have gone before a court found guilty and rot in Leavenworth. The book goes into depth on the lies put out by Taliban and Washington quick to hang these guys out to dry. |

Apparently Marcus Luttrell warned everyone to not **** up the story of his friends, or there would be consequences, heh. |

There is reason to believe this never happened. Luttrell never mentioned it in any of his after-action reports and only came to light when the book was written.
You can read a good account of the story: http://www.darack.com/sawtalosar/misinformation.php http://www.darack.com/sawtalosar/ED-...NFORMATION.pdf |

In the interview I mention earlier, she asks him if he thought releasing them was the right thing to do and he said he wouldnt change anything, that it was the right thing to do... cant imagine this guy would want some baldfaced lie in his story.

I will see this, and will likely enjoy the hell out of it, but I am COMPLETELY bothered by. Especially beings it's based off of true events.
Guy1: "This goat herder kid saw us!" Guy2: "We have to kill him! He'll go tell that army down there we're here!" Guy1: "We're NOT killing him!" They let him go, he tells, everyone but the lone survivor dies. Solution: LEAVE THE ****ING KID TIED UP AND WALK AWAY! He gets found alive once noticed missing, by that time, you're long gone, everyone lives. No movie! |

They would have found them tied up by nights end or in the morning. |

Which is why my solution is to just tie them all to each other. The walk down would take a really long time if they were all tied up together.

I saw this yesterday. Pretty damn good, although some parts were difficult to watch.

I'm not up to speed on the ROE, but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't chance accidentally killing one of them to "knock them out". If that was even allowed under the ROE, which I suspect it isn't.
I thought that tying them together to slow them down would have been a compromise, but again, there might be something that would prohibit that. As they said, this is in mountainous Afghanistan. It gets cold there at night, they risked injuring or killing the noncombatants if they tied them up to a tree. Far from guaranteed that they would be found in that expansive wilderness.
