Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.

Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:

If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point.

I haven't done Leg Press in years and it has not carryover to squats. Can you do it, sure. But it shouldn't be the focus of your leg workout, squats or deads should be.

Why the **** did you give me a routine that included Leg Press after Squats? God damn that is the most annoying shit in my entire lift week.

Leg press is still good for size/strength gains in the quads. The squat is just a very different, more involved exercise, which is why it doesn't carry over.

Leg Press bothers my hips so I don't do it. But as mentioned, it can be a secondary movement for size gains in the quads. But as you see, it isn't the main focus of your workout which is why I have squats first.

Three out of the last four days I've rode a stationary bike for 30 mins and treadmilled for at least 20 minutes. Good. Bad. Worthless without pics...

Going to start seeing a personal trainer at my gym once per week. Signed up for six months. It's a little pricey (to me), but it will so be worth the accountability, advice, and instruction I'll get. I've got the self motivation; I just need to know where and how to direct it.

Thing that sucks...right now, I'm at 44.4% body fat. Looking forward to getting rid of half of that.

I'm sure he says this to all of his trainees, but he did mention that, for not having worked with free weights much before, I had really good form. Gave me a few pointers in my squats and lunges, too.

Doing that on our first official appointment tomorrow. Last night, was the basic fitness eval you get whenever you join a gym.
