Old School Video Games

I recently bought Twisted Metal 2 (pic below) for the original playstation on Amazon to get down on some nostalgia gaming. It got me wondering...what other old school games have I completely forgotten about.

What are some gems from the old school days that you guys enjoyed?

For the purpose of the thread, we'll call anything prior to the 360/PS3 gen old school.

If computer games count, Red Alert and Sims have to be in there. The Warcraft series before it went online was damn good too. And Backyard Baseball of course, but I'm thinking that's after many of your times.

Oh and Zelda. Jesus Christ how has nobody mentioned the greatest video game of all time?!?

The problem is that the game was just a tick too easy so it's replayability was pretty limited; mostly just something I'd do to kill an hour or pop in and play the sandlot version with someone shitty like Steve or Jon to see if I could still win on max (and yes, I could).

Great idea that I wish they'd have tried again and made it a little more varied and thus more difficult.

The answer is Twisted Metal: Black

Twisted Metal 2 was pretty awesome because of the stages and the 'world tour' aspect of it but Black was just next level in terms of graphics and game play. The analogue combinations that could pop out freeze shots, jumps, shields; all kinds of cool shit that really elevated the game, IMO.
