Have you seen their current division? That division makes their current ACC division look like murderer's row.

A division with 11 BCS appearances. Not bad.

I'm not saying it's easy. It's just not a very exciting nor convenient travel schedule.

Who are they driving to in that division? (ignore Clemson)

Once you are in a plane, you're in a plane, whats another couple hundred miles? As for exciting, I have to disagree, I'm not sure how you could possibly think any of those ACC games are more exciting. (FSU-Clemson obviously doesn't count)

Clemson fans drive to any road game on that slate. It's a weekend for them.

If you are driving to North Carolina from Tallahassee, you probably aren't saving much, if any, money.

Nobody. That's kind of my point. Ames and Manhattan and Lawrence weren't exactly glamorous for Mizzou, but at least the fans could drive there.

Not even the fans, look at a map. The panhandle of Florida is one hell of a haul to NC and other destinations north of that.

But they are cool places to visit. If I'm buying a plane ticket, would I rather go to DC to watch Maryland or Ames to watch the Clones? Boston and Chapel Hill or Lawrence and Manhattan?

So, you are going to travel to see the sights, but not necessarily for the boring-ass game when the Noles lay a beatdown on the hapless Deacons?

I'd rather stay home if the game's not any good.

Also, to those looking at a map, FSU fans cant drive as the crow flies. We generally have direct highways to each other, but an FSU fan has to first drive almost to the coast before starting north. They are really freaking far away from everyone in drivable miles.

Not to split hairs, but Clemson is not in North Carolina, though considerable numbers of fans are

The point is that those fans travel currently to road games because they are manageable drives to all, and that's what their fans do. Road trips are cheap and you can cram four or five people in a vehicle and everybody gets there for a split of gas money. Nobody is going to buy airfare and rent cars and hotel rooms to visit Lawrence or Manhattan or Ames, or Waco or Lubbock. They might head over to Austin or Norman because it'll usually be a big game but it's not like the local schools, the old big 8, will see a lot of benefit from road fan travel. The fans will have far fewer travel options overall. If its good for the program it's good for the program, but you can't really argue it won't hurt fan travel.
