Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

Yeah. Three of us crawled 100 or so yards to a house for cover, all we had was tall grass until we reached that house. It's a good thing he can't shoot.

The Theiss I was looking at was cowhide, black, with kydex. Its $55. The foxx is same type but leather for $40. Trying to decide if the theiss is worth the extra $15.

decided I need to off duty carry more often. What kind of holster do you guys use? I'm looking at a hybrid tommy theis or Foxx hybrid for the XDS.

That son of a bitch is lucky he didn't get 50 bullets to the chest from a half dozen LEO's.

He should be taking a dirt nap right about now.

Damn crazy...glad things turned out well.

The plus of kydex is that it's stiff. One risk of any gun with a trigger safety is if your holster wears enough that the leather starts to bulge in around the trigger area. Some people have had accidental discharges from old worn holsters hanging up on bulges in the trigger area. It's not a huge concern and probably less of an issue if you maintain/replace your holsters frequently enough.

Kydex if it's in the holster can help keep those areas safe reducing the risk of that type of accidental discharge. The negative of kydex is that because it's stiffer it can be less comfortable to wear. A potential bit of extra safety for a loss of some comfort.

I have also purchased two holsters from this company:

They're awesome, but the ones I got aren't conceal carry.

Damn, glad he missed. I usually just carry my snub nose .38 in a pocket holster or ankle holster. Sometimes after work I just carry my duty sig .40 in a paddle holster, let a T-shirt hang over it, it's not very concealed but best access.

I'm thinking of a good mid sized off duty carry with a king tuck holster.

I use one for my XDs, and my wife uses one for her LC9. They are very comfortable, and extremely usable:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It looks very basic, and that's the beauty of it. It's a piece of plastic that holsters the gun through the barrel.

Do not use with sweatpants.

I liked the stiffness of the kydex for safety as well. I also went with the horsehide, and would highly recommend it. It's pretty soft, and much thinner than the cowhide, which to me means more comfortable to wear. A buddy bought the cowhide, and it took him almost a month of daily wear to get it broken in and conforming to his body. Mine took two days. At first I was worried that the horsehide would be too thin to prevent the kydex from jabbing me, but I don't even notice it.

The only think I don't like about mine are the kydex clips. My next IWB will also be a Theiss, the only difference is that I will go with metal clips. The kydex clips are a pain in the ass to pull off with the way the hook on your belt.

Damn. Glad you made it though.

I can only speak for the Theiss, as it's the only IWB I own. Like I said above, I love mine, and recommend the horsehide and metal clips. Those are just my preferences. It took a couple weeks to get mine, since at the time he was making them to order, but I don't know what his supply/demand is like now.
