Here's a writeup of the final 8, at least the first episode. Don't worry, no spoilers.

Marie is annoying, but the actress who plays her is hilarious and awesome. The whole cast seems like they have a lot of fun. Betsy Brandt became a lot more attractive to me when I saw her real personality.

The show creator calls anyone who doesn't like Skylar a misogynist, and maybe anyone who thinks she is a nag and shrew is a misogynist, but I don't like her, or Marie, or Wendy, or any of Jesse's women, or his mother, not one. I don't like them because they are uninteresting terrible characters not because I think I have to actually "like" characters. Some of my favorite characters are ones I don't like (Jaime Lannister.)

Skylar has gotten a little more interesting of late, but I rarely believe any of her motivations. I believe the character was meant to be smart enough to challenge Walter, but I don't think she is, and that is bad writing. How they write Walter, Jesse, Hank, Gus, Hector, and all the other really interesting male characters so well and miss so massively on the female characters is kind of a mystery and has kept my from truly enjoying this show. Still can't wait to see how it wraps up though.

I really liked Jane. Jessie's season 2 hookup.

Instead, she tried to walk an impossible tightrope that made her still look like a bitch while her family was still in danger.
To be fair, Skyler kept getting assured by Walt that the family was no longer in danger.

By the same metric, Walt clearly doesn't love his family as much as he claims to.

BN23 was an underrated gem, if nothing else for Da'Beek's satirizing himself.

Krysten's 'dumb' sitcom was 'Til Death, which had one of the most byzantine, clinging to life, existences in network history.
The show also witnessed Krysten turning into Kate Micuccci along the way.

Speaking of 'Til Death, it appears from IMDB that 'The Goodwin Games' might have stood a better chance, at least with me, if I had any idea that Kat Foster was in the cast.

She's also living in a situation that's really beyond the scope of anything she could have expected to deal with in life and has no one else in her life that can relate to it, aside from Walt, and Walt will lie and threaten and do anything to get his way.
I feel like her reactions are reasonable, in their way.

If I believed that, I wouldn't dislike her, but this is where the show falls apart for me. That is understandable, but boring, and everyone else gets way better material to work with. I don't believe that is the intent. I think they meant to make her a villain in it, but she isn't written well enough to be anything but pathetic. There is enough ground work in there for a much more interesting Skylar, but they stop short at every turn.

She has proven herself a formidable liar and fraud when she wants to be. Even Walter says, "Lying comes much easier to you than me," or something alot like that. I just wish she was more of a force.

I just look at it that she's an annoyance and a pain in the ass and inconsistent because that's what she would be. She's a pain in Walt's ass because she would be a pain in Walt's ass in real life, and not only that, but in a marital relationship.
Walt thinks she gets in the way of what he wants to do, and that she doesn't get it or appreciate it. She's a nuisance that needs and demands explanations, but has moral hypocrisies and inconsistencies. That's what a real wife would do. I don't mean that in a sexist way, but in a relationship dynamic.
I mean, what it is, when you boil it down, is another avenue for conflict. She's not an enjoyable character, really. She's whiny and often dull, but people are that way.

Re-watched season 5 over the weekend. Skipped over almost all the Skyler scenes, so that was great. Except for the scene with Jesse eating dinner at Walt's house--that was hilarious.
