Catapano And Dez Moses Training With Chuck Smith in Atlanta
Saw on twitter video clips of Big Cat and Moses are in Atlanta prepping for training camp with former NFL All Pro and now famed pass rushing coach Chuck Smith. Nice to see guys putting in that extra effort on their own. Smith says Catapano weighs 297 and looks fast as hell! See video link attached. Not sure how to imbed twitter and Instagram vids but here is link. On Smiths twitter and Instagram he has a few vids of them two looking sharp. Catapano moves like a linebacker at 297. Quite impressive!

Agreed...put the guy in the damn game already! Let's see it. Makes little sense to talk your player up so much and then not play him. There has been LOTS of praise of him coming from everybody from the GM on down to fellow players. Sutton even said Catapano still has enough linebacker skill at his current size that he can drop into coverage. (Doubt that will happen at 295 but that's what he said) maybe they were just grooming him last year but cmon already. its definity time now...if Catapano starts making some noise on the field it makes the defense that much better. Him stepping up and naking big plays would be a huge boost for that defense. With 3 pro bowl linebackers and a stand out rookie speed rusher plus Catapano and Poe rushing from inside on passing downs I like it alot if the back end can just hold up

With the group we have now if we aren't rotating guys then I don't know why....keeping guys fresh makes sense to me. We got the depth up front to do so now for sure.

If that's the case then Dorsey sucks at player acquisition.

We have some freaks of nature on defense for sure. Cat and bailey are physical specimen. Poe might be the biggest freak in the NFL after you factor in his stamina.
Even our shitty DBS are freaks. Gaines running 4.3 at over 6ft, cooper 4.40+40 inch vert at 6'2. Sanders running 4.40 at over 220lbs. Even that shitty guy from the raiders running 4.2s at over 6ft. I just pray these guys turn out to be good football players, and we can see that freak come out on the field. |

What we have are a bunch of question marks wrapped up in fluff, hype and hope.

These are great little fluff type pieces, but I walk away going great so we are going to be hearing about this guy failing for PEDs next.

Again, people who hate on Catapano obviously didn't watch him play last year. Even as raw and undersized as he was, he still showed the ability to pressure the QB better than any of our other interior guys not named Poe. He was just as fast off of the line as Houston was too. Why didn't Sutton play him much? Because Catapano was coming from the Ivy League and he was undersized (Sutton is one of those coaches who places a lot of emphasis on the run stopping ability from his DL, that was a glaring weakness for Catapano).

That being said, it seems clear he's bigger and stronger by a lot. He's got a year under his belt. I'm excited to see what the kid can do but not going to set my expectations too high. |

Here's a look at his get-off. Catapano is at the same level as Houston in this shot:
This was often the case when he was in. So why didn't he play much? Same reason why Demetrius Harris didn't make the team last year. He was fairly raw and undersized for the position. It was easy for teams to blow Catapano off of the line on running plays. |
