Anyone an expert in audio wiring?

I picked up what I thought was [and may be] a great deal on some speakers. Only problem is, that they are designated 70v, as opposed to Ohm rated. I intended to use them as surrounds, but want to make sure first that they're not gonna fry either themselves or the amp [which is Ohm rated].

The speakers are Bogen/NEAR A6T [the T is the difference, as the A6 is an identical Ohm rated speaker. My receiver is a Sony 777ES.

http://www.bogen.com/products/pdfs/nearpdfs/A6s.pdf

Do I need to hold off until I find some PA amp to run them, or can I configure them to work in my HT.

They were a steal at $50 each brand new at Cargo Largo. But I've had them too long to take back.

I have no clue.

A Sony unit should have an automatic shutoff though. I doubt you'd fry the sucker.

If they are a 70 volt set up, just by pass the transformer and go direct to the speakers, they are probably just regular 8 ohm speakers.

Put an ohm meter across the pos/neg terminals.
See what it says...

I actually ended up cracking 'er open, and it was a snap. You just wire it to bypass an internal step-up transformer, directly from the terminals to the crossover.

Thanks for the input, though.
