They definitely made a conscious decision to stop the bleeding. They had to.

A lot of great points being made in here. I think what people fail to see by this approach or give kudos to is the possibility that Reid/Dorsey know Smith is not the answer and is indeed a stop gap. The possibility gives me hope they know what they're doing.
