Prolly will get burned by this but Barkley reminded me a little bit of Drew Brees, shorter really accurate from short the medium range, but has just enough arm strength to throw it long.

I've seen far more of Barkley than I have Geno Smith, so that may be a little unfair, but quite frankly, Smith has been underwhelming to me, especially the past several weeks. His decision making has been suspect and Kansas State shut him down.

I realize that it's unfair to make a judgement at this point on Smith, so I have to give him an Incomplete. But at this point in time, before Bowl season, before the Combines, before we know who will be the GM and head coach of the Chiefs and which offensive system they'll run (although it'll likely be the WCO for either Smith or Barkley), I give the edge to Barkley.

I think that Barkley will be a solid, if not spectacular, NFL QB at this juncture. Again, that's subject change, especially after the Combine.

Barkley's ceiling may not be as high as Geno's but he can be an immediate starter and difference maker. Geno may get there someday and maybe he won't. He'll need a ton more coaching, IMO.

He looked solid last night.

I still think he has a Matt Schaub ceiling, though and would be ideally suited for a west-coast scheme.

If the Chiefs take him and surround him with plus talent, they can win with him. But they're not going to be able to take him and surround him with mediocre talent that he makes better (i.e. the Rodgers, Manning, Brady, Brees class).

I'd still prefer Smith because I think he has more upside. Wilson and Bray might have more upside as well. That said, I could ultimately live with Barkley because I just can't see him being a bad quarterback. We'd have a guy that doesn't take anything off the table for the next decade and as he matures, because of his background, he could even be one of those 'pressure' players that steps up when needed.

Not my favorite choice, but an acceptable one.

The '13 draft class doesn't look to have the upside of an historic class such as the '04 one, but the former does look to have a similarly high basement, which is pretty damn good from where I sit.

But he just seems like a douche kid with great physical talents.

Also, after watching all his games this year I think Barkley is more physically gifted than he gets credit for. I know it's been said but he reminds me of a slightly shorter Matt Ryan at this point. He arm strength which was my only question, seems like it isn't a problem.

Barkley's height may be a bit of an issue though. Ryan can get on top of the ball and fire down into intermediate zones whereas Barkley's height may keep him from doing that as often.

That deep ball doesn't impress me as it is impressing a lot of guys here. He had enough room to throw his entire body into that and was able to get it downfield. That throw in that situation happens on hail mary's and that's about it. Otherwise we're still talking about the ability to get the ball moving with a quick release and high velocity. I still didn't see much of that last night.

He didn't display 'practical' arm strength with that throw.

As for Bray, I'm still not sure. He's my favorite physical talent in the draft but his feet really are awful sometimes and yeah, there's some Cutler to the boy. I dunno. He's the biggest risk/reward pick to be had if he comes out, IMO.

It was billed as being pretty good with Eli and Rivers being viewed as franchise QBs and Roethlisberger being a possible franchise QB. The thing that class has over this one is the fact it is not following a draft with two elite QB prospects, with one being billed as the best since Elway. That is why this class seems more underwhelming than it really is. This is actually an excellent class and might go down as one of the best in the last 20+ years.

If USC isn't lying about Barkley's size he'll be the same as Aaron Rogers. Figure out why he's throwing some of those stupid picks this year correct that and he's a damn good QB.

what?

they don't seem alike to me at all

Barkley has shown heart lately which is a concern with USC QB's.

Barkley reminds me a bit of a Stafford without the huge arm.

Shit...I think this is a pretty goddamn good QB class, even if some of the juniors don't come out.

Smith and Barkley both look like legitimate franchise level QB's, with Smith's potential ceiling being All-Pro.

Nassib, Glennon, Manuel (who's really playing well right now) and Jones (who has all the tools and could be had on the cheap after being touted for years as a first rounder) are all solid prospects.

Bunch of sleepers in there too such as Carder, Sorensen, Dysert and Klein.

Throw in the juniors and this is a ridiculous QB class.

Can't put it together? I thought he had 530 yards and 5 TDs against no INTs yesterday.
