Bob Sutton Sucks at the Prevent D
Eagles at Chiefs, 2nd Quarter, and less than a minute remaining with the Eagles starting on their own 25:

1st & 10: Chiefs are in full prevent D with only 3 guys on the line and everyone else about 10 yards or more back from the line. Eagles get it to their running back for a 10-yard gain.

Ball at the 35 now...and you'd think the Chiefs would still get set up to prevent a long pass...

But no...

Sutton now has his guys set up in more of a "regular" defensive formation with 7 in the box...all because the Eagles went short on the previous play and gained 10 yards with it...and then...

The throw goes deep, Mitchell goes into "SuperStupid" mode, and the Eagles get into scoring position...just like that...

I have some criticisms of Sutton, but I don't think Mitchell not being able to catch is really Sutton's fault . . . . .

In general I hate prevent defenses. There are too many ways to stop the clock without timeouts, and teams can score very quickly when you're giving up 15 yards per play.

It seems to me that if you got a 2 touchdown lead playing a certain way, it's incumbent on the other team to figure it out, not for you to change what you're doing. It's just another way teams play not to lose, in my opinion.

That is why it does not make much sense to only rush 3. If you give Rivers that kind of time this weekend he will pick us apart like Wentz and Brady did.

You should pressure him from all sides making him dump the ball off short to protect the huge deficiency we have with our secondary.

When Sutton first came to KC he was very aggressive and we gave up a lot of big plays. Sutton adjusted and we've been bend, don't break ever since. I wonder if Reid asked Sutton to be more conservative in play calling.
