help reformatting a drive...
Just bought a new external hard drive and it is a fat32...I am converting it to a NTFS and I did the command prop but now it is telling me to enter the volume label...what is this? How do I find it?

Look to see what the volume name is.

got to Start > Run then type cmd

then type label (drive letter)

this is the drives label (name)

If the drive is empty don't do a convert. Just format it as NTFS.

If it has data on it you don;t want to lose then you have to type in the HD name during the convert. Go to the explorer window that show all yoru drives. You will see the name there.
