Really? I didn't see a performance improvement at all, especially with non- MS apps. For example, running Chromium browser would drop out of metro to the traditional desktop and THEN start. It was way slower than running it in Win 7.

Booting took about 1/3 longer on Windows 8 once all startup and login screens had been removed. That's one of the first things I tested.
