I ****ing hate cigarettes

My mom calls me about a week ago and pretty much goes off on me because she hasn't seen my kids since March. I tried to explain to her like I have a hundred times before that we dont come around much because I can't stand her cigarette smoke infested house. She acts like Im crazy and honestly believes its not that harmful. She lives in a small two bedroom house, refuses to open the windows, and the smoke is so thick you can see clouds of it all over the house. If I ask her to air it out before we come and not smoke while we're there she pulls the old "when you pay my rent I'll stop smoking" card.

As a kid growing up I had a lot of health problems that pretty much ended about a year after I moved out on my own. I remember being embarrassed at church because my clothes smelled like I had just walked out of a bar all the time. My friends used to give me shit about it too and nobody ever wanted to come over because of it...that's how bad it was/is.

So feeling bad I took the kids today and stayed for an hour (couldn't handle anymore). Now I have the worst migraine Ive ever had and I can still taste the shit in the back of my throat. I love my mom to death, and my kids love their grandma but I don't know what else to do. How do you convince a 72 year old woman set in her ways and that's been smoking since she was a teenager the shit is toxic to us? I dont want to miss out on her last years, and I dont want her to miss her grand kids growing up but I also cant handle her disgusting habit.

Plenty of non-smokers die from cancer.

Carcinogens aren't exclusive to cigarettes.

Ok. It doesn't necessarily mean that they wouldn't have not died had they not smoked. Cancer just ****ing happens sometimes.

And I wasn't speaking about cancer specifically. I had a severely pinched nerve in my neck quite a few years ago, and I went to see a neck and spine specialist. He told me that I had no business being in his office complaining about neck pain since I smoked. WTF? Smoking didn't have a goddamn thing to do with it.

Doctors tend to take the approach that if you smoke you should just ****ing take all the agony and pain no matter what is causing it because you obviously don't care about your body because you smoke.

When they tried that shit with me I just sued them for malpractice.

Smokers don't understand that smoking harms others worse than it harms them;

our bodies are not numb to nicotine and carcinogens
we are breathing non filtered smoke they are breathing filtered smoke
we are trying to keep our children from starting a killing habit

if you don't draw the line for the sake of your children who will

good luck for the sake of your kids
Uhm, smokers breath unfiltered smoke too. Just pointing it out....

Speaking of cigarettes, I just started the e-cig journey. I smoked about 2 packs of Marlboros a day, so needless to say I'm ready to start saving my life not to mention a shit ton of money. I'll be saving about 300 dollars per month/3600 dollars per year. That's a lot when you only net about 25,000 per year.

I got the Ecto Cooler flavored ecig liquid. It's...ok. Not what I'd hoped. Though I've read online that people do something called "steeping" their liquid by leaving the cap off and keeping it in a dark, cool place for several days and keeping it shook up. Not sure if that enhances the flavor but I'm gonna try it. I tried several flavors at the vapor shop and there were just too many to choose from. I'd probably better serve myself by just going with a tobacco flavor. The waffle flavor was pretty good.

I have a similar problem, my mom eats 12 Big Macs a day, I try to warn her of the example she sends my kids, she's killing her self. And at 72 she will be lucky to live another 20 years if she stops now. Plus, have you smelled McDonalds grease? Horrible. Smells like stale coffee, that caffeine is so good for your heart, everyone should take their kids to Starbucks and introduce them to life saving caffeine as soon as possible. But the smell......

Your immune system makes you sick all the time, smoking or not smoking is not the only measurable to be being healthy.
