Iron Maiden Coming to KC on 9-7-13

Quote:
IRON MAIDEN will make a brief return to the USA this September, playing seven specially selected shows en-route to Latin America where they will once again headline at the legendary Rock In Rio Festival, Brazil, on 22 September, their show there having recently sold out to 70,000 fans in just a couple of hours

These will begin with a first-ever visit to Raleigh, NC, for the opening show on September 3rd at the Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion followed by taking Metal back to country music capital Nashville, TN where Maiden haven't played in over twenty years, at the Bridgestone Arena on September 5th. There will also be shows in Kansas City, MO, Sprint Center on September 7th, St Louis, MO, Verizon Wireless on September 8th and the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV on September 12th , all of which Maiden last visited way back in 2000 on the Brave New World Tour. Plus a return to Austin, TX for a show at the 360 Amphitheater on September 10th, the first time the band have played in that city since the original Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son Tour twenty-five years ago!

Very special guests on all these dates will be MEGADETH.

Before they finally head south towards Brazil, Maiden will also headline a very special event at the San Manuel Amphitheater, San Bernardino, CA. The Battle Of San Bernardino will take place on Friday 13th September. Anthrax, Testament, Overkill and Sabaton will join tour special guests Megadeth for this performance only, making for a big, loud and exciting day out for Metal fans in Southern California.

Tickets for the Las Vegas and San Bernardino shows go on sale 12 April. Tickets for Raleigh, Nashville, St Louis and Austin go onsale 13 April. Tickets for Kansas City go onsale 17 May. Check local details or www.ironmaiden.com for exact on sale times.

So, who is in on this? I have never seen these guys live, and with the limited times they play in the US, I'm thinking it may be worth ponying up the money to check it out....

No, it absolutely does not.

Please point out where Malcom or Angus Young has EVER played in front of the beat.

Those guys are bluesy rock players that play hella behind the beat.

KCDC is a joke.

It's outright unlistenable. Maybe they're better live, as recording is a completely different animal.
I have seen them 3 times. They put on a great show- first half- Bon era-with one singer- than second show with Johnson stuff. I would give the nod to the Bon Scott stuff they play a lot of songs No band ever plays.

Not sure what recording that is but they have sounded great with the exception of the Sandstone on the Dream rocker tribute show. Their were sound problems most of their set-the PA sucked for all the bands. Not sure wtf happened but at harrah's they were great and last week at Worth they nailed it. I am not sure you could get closer to the real music. I have seen AC Dc many times.

As I mentioned earlier, they might be great live. Recording is a completely different animal and very, very difficult for non-professionals.

I see where you are coming from- that recording is flat and not a very good representation of the band for sure. Tributes will never be the same as the real thing, but they do great-even with recent line up changes. If you listen to very early bootlegs of the real AC DC- its pretty close.

Except they're not even close.

They don't play like AC/DC. They're not playing behind the beat and the drummer sucks ass.

I realize that most people just listen to the singer and that's fine. But if you listen to the band - the guitarist, bassist and drummer - they're missing all of the essential elements that made AC/DC a great band:

Timing, tones and feel.

Not to mention timeless songwriting, which is clearly something out their realm.

The coolest tribute band I ever saw was the early Atomic Punks - A Tribute to Van Halen.

Ralph nailed Dave, Russ (and especially Bryan Young) nailed Eddie and the bassist and drummer were dead ringers as well. They were an absolutely blast to see, especially around 1999-2001, because they were just freaking awesome.

I used to see everyone from B. Real to Fergie to Slash - you name 'em - at the Whiskey when they played.

But yeah, 99.99% of the time, tribute bands completely and utterly suck ass.
