Long John Silver's To Treat Customers As They Attempt World Record

http://www.wjbf.com/story/25868376/l...t-world-record

Long John Silver’s, the world’s largest quick service seafood brand, will treat America to lunch on June 28 th and attempt to set a new world record for the “Largest Free Fish Fry” in the process. This Saturday, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at participating U.S. locations, Long John Silver’s will give one crispy golden fish filet and a serving of its natural-cut french fries to every guest who visits the store free of charge. No purchase necessary, no strings attached.

“Over the coming months, Long John Silver’s will announce special events and offers designed to surprise and delight our loyal customers and allow them to enjoy—or perhaps rediscover—the delicious seafood they love and crave,” said Mike Kern, Chief Executive Officer for Long John Silver’s. “We’re kicking off this summer of specials by inviting everyone in the communities we serve to come in and enjoy lunch on us. Think of it as America’s Fish Fry: everyone is invited and all are welcome.”

During the Free Fish & Fries event, Long John Silver’s will attempt to set a world record for the Largest Free Fish Fry.

“Free Fish & Fries is our way of thanking our loyal customers who have made Long John Silver’s America’s favorite seafood brand for the last 45 years,” said Kern. “To our knowledge, no one has attempted a fish fry on this kind of scale before, so we’re looking forward to hopefully creating a new world record at the same time.”

All Long John Silver’s locations are encouraged to participate in this national offer, which is limited to one customer per store, per visit, and is good for dine-in or carryout only.

To learn more, visit www.ljsilvers.com and follow the brand on Facebook (/LongJohnSilvers) and Twitter (@longjohnslvrs).

Now granted, is a meal one serving or do all of these things end up being doubled or tripled as a two-piece or three-piece meal? Maybe by the time you add everything up it's still 1,200 calories or more.

And I'm curious about the jalapeno poppers and "Captain Sandwich" under "other favorites". Are they dipping those in lard or something?
Holy shit, man. You just ruined my day...

Jalapeno Poppers 1 order 1158 calories 1200mg Sodium

I take it you're familiar with them?

What are they putting in those things that would be 1,158 calories?

They're delicious. I'm guessing it must me a matryoshka doll nightmare of deep fried lard/cheese layers or something. Quadruple deep fried. Whatever it is, now I feel guilty.

Nothing says American obesity and health problems like taking a healthy fish filet of 50 calories, coating it in 2 inches of flour, eggs, buttermilk, batter and then frying it in oil to produce a heart clogging meal! Add the fries to plug up those arteries just a little more!
