Please understand that when you wake up in the morning next to your wife and she complains about your bad breath she must understand that it's normal.

Bad breath results from bacteria living in your mouth. Bacteria exists in your mouth day and night. Saliva fluids slow down at night and when they do your mouth doesn't get enough oxygen to circulate through it. The species of anaerobic bacteria metabolizes in your mouth and feed from leftover food particles and skin cells on the lining of your mouth. The waste products that are produced from these anaerobic bacteria contain sulfur. The bad smell comes from these sulfur compounds.

I remember reading something when doing the low carb diet about it making your breath and sweat stink.

I've also been told (don't know if it's true or not) that some types of cancer make your breath smell "funny."
