Bring on the snow

Some of you saw my home built backhoe last year and this winter brought another need. I live on private road that is not plowed and could not afford a truck with a plow. Plus that set up does not do driveways well. So here is the solution. A 3 point blade mounted to an SUV with a winch to raise and lower it. Found a company that makes the receiver adapter that allows this to work.

Bought a snow blower the other day, so there won't be any decent accumulation this winter.

You're welcome.

You basically drag it out.
I've looked into Hitch-N-Plows, even thought about just making one myself since I've got a winch on a receiver hitch already. The plow blade itself is the most expensive part.

My dad did that around 5 years ago. Dealt with snow removal the year before and said "I'm too old for this shit." Went out and bought a tractor (for other uses as well) and then it never snowed.

Yeah, Dad has a 14 foot blade on the tractor. He can move (or make) a MOUNTAIN of snow with that bitch. Dozer blades are the best when it comes to moving snow, but rear end blades are not far behind. I could see that one getting too big for it's britches though if the snow is too deep.

Hey Bwana, send some of that shit my way. I'd pay good money for a forecast like that.

looks ok, but i'm not sure how well that would work with the way my driveway drifts in. sometimes over 3feet deep.

usually the wife scoops out to the road so I can get my truck out and take her to work. then the neighbor comes over in his tractor after he gets all his stuff bladed out.

I need to figure something out before she has a damn heart attack and I have to sit around waiting for him.

That's precisely what would happen to me. I'd spend real money on something and it would never snow again.

Conversely, my buddy in town bought a snow blower a couple years back, and man I stacked the shit on him. I told him it NEVER snows that much here to need that big of a unit. 2 months later, I borrowed it because I was going to shovel all day.

I kept looking for a used blade on Craigslist but none came up. A local store was running a $65 dollar off sale so I bought a Cat 0, 5 ft plow and added a drawbar to allow it to fit a Cat 1 spacing. Tried in on the gravel driveway and I'm impressed. If snow get too deep or drifts I'll just turn the blade around and push a little at a time till I can drag.
