Quinn, speaking to the media after the game:

"The one thing people can hopefully try to take away I guess, is the relationships they have with people. I know when it happened, in my head I’m thinking, what I could have done differently? When you ask someone how they are doing, do you really mean it? When you answer someone back how you are doing, are you really telling the truth?

“We live in a society of social networks, with Twitter pages and Facebook, and that’s fine and stuff. But we have contact with our work associates, our family, our friends, and it seems like half the time we are more preoccupied with our phone and other things going on instead of the actual relationships that we have in front of us.

“Hopefully people can learn from this and try to actually help if someone is battling something deeper on the inside than what they may be revealing on a day-to-day basis.”

The problem with his comment (IMO) is that "How are you doing?" is merely a greeting. It isn't an actual request for information on that person's wellbeing. If you want to actually know, you have to go a bit deeper than that.

There's a good reason people don't download all their personal shit onto people who ask "how ya doin mate?".

I don't notice anyone saying it's terribly profound or deep.

It's a good message and I thought he was being sincere. I think he was in put in the position where he was required to say something. He's the starting QB right now and that's part of the job. Kudos to him for doing the job well last Sunday, on and off the field.
