Ok I hate to say it but is the NFL Rigged?

One of the worst reffed games I've ever seen and how is the ref punished? No he's rewarded with the Super Bowl job. How the hell can this be does the NFL not want us to win?

I know now I'm a conspiracy theorist or just angry chief fan but is anyone else upset???

The NFL basically screwed the chiefs and no one is mad!

You don't have to clear anything up with me. I've said that the whole NFL has stunk for years. There's too much betting money involved each week for it not to be.

It's just that now it seems as though they don't even try to hide it too much any longer....

Which, in my book, means the beginning of the end.

And the Maras.

No mystery that the Giants are never really good, but are almost always a threat to win the SB. If the Giants are in the postseason, WATCH OUT.

They won an NFC title with Kerry Collins, an NFL title with Jeff Hostetler, and 2 titles with Eli "Interception? Aw, Shucks" Manning.

When Triplette lied to 80,000 home fans and 100 million TV viewers and said "because there was forward progress on the play, it's not reviewable, per forward progress" to negate our right to challenge, and keep things close, for whatever agenda, our game became illegitimate.

The fact there was a second half to play, and we had 300 other chances, is moot, nor would it have mattered if we'd won by 50 or lost by 60. AS SOON, as Triplette lied, to cover up his horrible call (which I admit was only that so long as we maintained our fair right to challenge), our entire game became illegitimate.

No one needs to believe in the whole thing being rigged, or a grand conspiracy, to logically deduce that Triplette went beyond his authority to sway the outcome of our game, and once that happened, said game became officially illegitimate. Considering our one game is part of an 11 game tournament, it's not too bold to claim the entire 2018 playoffs are now, as a result, officially, illegitimate.

Some of you believe every play of every game needs to be scripted in order to fit the definition of "rigged". I'm more lax, I think once a game becomes illegitimate, like when Triplette offically turned ours illegitimate, it may as well be rigged.

So I guess my question for those he still believe the game is legitimate, please explain to me how Triplette, calling a BS play to begin with, (within his rights) than LYING to **** us twice so we can't challenge (BEYOND his rights)...explain to me how our game was still legitimate, after that happened. Because I just can't figure it out on my own.

Never.

Andy Reid is complicit, if not implicit.

Yup, we're all just discussing it openly, and accepting it.

Well, those of us with triple digits in our IQs, anyway...

Whether it's a ref getting drunk and confiding to his wife--who later reveals it after their divorce, or something else, at some point somebody would let the cat out of the bag.

That it hasn't happened yet suggests to me that maybe we're just seeing horribly incompetent refs. And maybe refs who are individually on the take (as opposed to being part of a league-wide conspiracy to steer games towards a certain result).

I don't know. 20 years ago I would have laughed and said no way anything is rigged. Now... I wouldn't be surprised to find out that it is, but at the same time I have a hard time believing that nobody would have spilled the beans yet.
People have talked, listen to the first 35 seconds of this video.I'm assuming most people respect Olberman as a reporter and Dick Butkus as an NFL player?

Here's the thing that (I think) bothers me the most. I watched the game from home. I heard Triplett make the call that "Forward progress had been stopped" after the OBVIOUS sack and fumble. THEN, the idiot announcers told us that "New York" said that it was the right call.

Every SOB at the game and the hundreds of thousands of people watching at home KNEW that the wrong call had been made. Now, here's the other question: Why didn't ONE of the other officiating crew approach Triplett and tell him that he had blown that call? Afraid for their jobs? doubtful. So it continued. It was enough of a debacle that Triplett announced his "retirement" the next day. Better than getting killed at a stadium....

My other big gripe is today - in today's NFL, they are going to such an extreme, in an effort to stop concerns that the game is "fixed" that they have slowed it to a crawl. What is a catch, what isn't a catch.....on and on and on - to the point of fans losing interest.

So, on the one hand, they are screwing us to death with "made up" rules on the field, then lulling us into complacency with 10 minute discussions on the field with this crap and that crap.

I never said that like most sports, star players are not the beneficiaries of calls going their way. I think some of you are under this delusion that there's a conspiracy to only keep 5-7 teams at the top of the food chain and that absolves owners and management of the other teams from any personal responsibility for their failures.

Why haven't the Cowboys done anything merit in two decades? Are they now in the shithouse with the Lions, Browns and Chiefs?

ACTUALLY...
it was after the commercial timeout and the announcer not named ****y Gruden goes "...and New York says it's the right call, so we're moving on..."

It's not quite that simple. The refs each have a separate responsibility. There's a hierarchy of decision making. That's by design to prevent squabbles between refs and ensure a quick decision.

IMO the introduction of instant replay, former refs in the booth and the BS concussion protocol has given them an even greater opportunity to steer games one way or another.

I’d need to hear Butkus’s story directly from Butkus. I wouldn’t believe Keith Olbermann if he told me he was Keith Olbermann.

Jerry Jones ran afoul of the NFL and the other owners with his maverick licensing deals and what not back in the mid 90s - remember all that?

Hasn't been to a SB since the 95 season.
