***Official Draft Tyler Wilson Thread****

...might as well get this started early.

Perhaps his injury well allow him to slip to the middle of the of the 1st round,..where we tend to draft.

Ok, I'll try and find the stats to correlate the deep attempts with the talented speed players and YPA.

2009 - (Ranked 2nd) Desean Jackson led receivers with 18.5 YPR
2010 - (Ranked 4th) Desean Jackson led receivers with 22.5 YPR

Note that three of the four years were the highest YPA during Reid's tenor. I bolded those years above. The YPA and 20+ yards correlate 75% of the time. The time it didn't correlate was with the slowest talent of the three (Owens). Again, It goes back to the talent he had and speed on the field. It's about Reid catering to the player's strengths. When he had quality speed guys, he threw it deep the most. He's only cracked the top 5 in 20+ yard passes four times in his career.
To further illustrate, Clayton's post shows that the Eagles were ranked 5th in 2008 in pass attempts, while your post shows that the Eagles were not (apparently) ranked in the top 10 in pass completions over 20 yards.

Similar comparison can be made for 2011 and '12.

The Eagles were also VERY well known for throwing the ball deep. How do I know that? Because I actually watched the games. It IS possible for them to BOTH throw deep AND throw the ball out of the backfield. That's where the stigma came that Reid throws it TOO MUCH. Imagine that.

If we franchise tag Albert, he's going to get the average salary of the TOP FIVE left tackles in the league. We're not going to tag him and then draft a 1st round LT. That's not common sense, that's beyond stupid.

They're certainly NOT going to tag him AND draft a LT #1 overall and pay him too. Tell me you're not really this dumb.

I can't seem to find 20+ yard attempts and you probably have to have a PFF or ESPN Insider subscription to have that but, Clayton's stats can prove my point. I would like to go further back if someone has access to those stats.

When Reid has talented speed players, he is more likely to throw it deep. He's wasn't forcing it deep to Riley Cooper last year.

The numbers in '08, '11, and '12 show the fallacy of your argument.

Good, that's good. You think Manuel rocketed himself to the 2nd round? I just want Bray to be far down on people's boards in terms of QBs.

Sorry Bob, but you're absolutely, unequivocally wrong.

ESPN.com provides splits, free of charge, and they track passes IN THE AIR (back to 2002).

Let just take 3 years from each "period" that you've chosen as your sample.

2010 - 64 attempts over 20 yards, 11 over 40 yards
2009 - 48 attempts over 20 yards, 12 over 40 yards
2008 - 62 attempts over 20 yards, 11 over 40 yards

2004 - 71 attempts over 20 yards, TWENTY EIGHT over 40 yards
2003 - 63 attempts over 20 yards, 6 over 40 yards
2002 - 48 attempts over 20 yards, 8 over 40 yards

2004 WRs were Todd Pinkston, Terrell Owens, and Freddie Mitchell. No Maclin, no Jackson.

You're wrong dude, you're just wrong.

Not to me, no.

I still think Manuel is 3rd-rounder at best.

couldn't 2012s numbers have been lower because their offensive line was mostly hurt and the replacements sucked, therefore the coaches couldn't call as many long passes?

I missed 2008 but, they had Jackson. However, it was his rookie year and he averaged 14.7 YPR. The lowest average of his career and the lowest average out of all the other guys I mentioned (T.O., Stallworth, etc.). Also, he didn't start every game.

Where am I off on 2011-2012?
