You find a mouse in the buns at a McDonald's and tell your manager. Does she.....
A) Close the store.
B) Call the health department? C) Tell you to brush off the droppings and serve the buns? http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=8403798 A former McDonald's employee in the US claims to have filmed a mouse trapped inside a bag of hamburger buns at a restaurant in Philadelphia. Karruim Demaio said he spotted the rodent wriggling around the buns in the store room of McDonald's restaurant where he worked, in West Oak Lane, on November 14. "I was going back there to get something else and I heard some rustling, so I turned around, and I look, I seen a mouse inside the bread — not on top of the package, but inside of the package," Mr Demaio told local TV news station Fox 29. The former employee, who worked at the restaurant from October 2010 to January 2012, filmed the trapped mouse on his mobile phone. He claimed it was sixth or seventh time he had seen vermin in the store and there were always droppings in the store room. Mr Demaio said his manager told him to brush off the droppings and serve the bread to customers. Another former employee told Fox 29 he had seen the general manager shake off droppings herself. Mr Demaio said he had worked at two other McDonald's restaurants before and had never seen anything similar happen. The owner of the McDonald's franchise in West Oak Lane, Ken Youngblood, told Fox 29 he was taking the matter seriously and working with authorities to investigate it. |

Disgusting. Horrifying. Gross. But here's a little news flash: it happens everywhere. Some of the most disgusting kitchens are in supposedly fancy restaurants. Watch Gordon Ramsey's "Kitchen Nightmares" and you'll never go out to eat again. Which is why I prefer open kitchens, where I can at least see what's going on a little.
There is a disassociation that goes on in the mind of humans. When they see or do something repetitively, they seem to start to block out what they're actually doing and remove themselves from the equation, and treat things differently. You see it all the time with people who get bored with their jobs. Circus people who start to mistreat animals, food workers who start to drop stuff on the floor and then wash it off ("hey, I ain't eatin' it, and if I report that I dropped it my manager will cuss me out and take it out of my pay"), package shippers who slam packages around no matter how many "FRAGILE" stickers you put on it... from the small way a person can start to repetitively abuse or mistreat a child or spouse, to the large way Germans conveniently ignored the Nazi regime's less savory aspects, it just seems like people turn their brains off when they've seen/done or been around something long enough. |

The McDonalds employee should have taken a metal rod and beat down the mouse for being back behind the counter.

This is why I rarely eat Mcdonalds anymore. I only go there a couple times a week and I make sure my kids don't go there more than 3 times a week.

Don't think of it as a dropping. Think of it as a "flavor crystal."

A Mickey D's taste test found out that 9 out of 10 customers preferred the McRib with the turds.
