****Official 2013-14 Missouri Tiger Football Repository Thread****

We have two things to look forward to this year:

1) The potential beginning of the Maty Mauk Era. Mauk represents the best chance for this program to get back to a level of respectability after horrendous QB play cost us multiple games last year.

2) The last year of the Gary Pinkel era. Pinkel's entrenched cronyism won't play in a conference this competitive, especially if he couples his abysmal gameday coaching with lackadaisical, worst-in-conference recruiting. Pinkel was the formerly adequate meal that has now turned into a four pound bowel obstruction. It's time to jam a Fleet's enema up our collective asses.

Here is the schedule. We dodge Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas in the west and the Non-con is decidedly weaker than years past.

8/31: Murray State
9/7: Toledo
9/21: @ Indiana
9/28: Arkansas State
10/5:@ Vanderbilt
10/12: @ Georgia
10/19:Florida
10/26: South Carolina
11/2:Tennessee
11/9: @ Kentucky
11/23: @ Ole Miss
11/30: aTm

Looks like 6-6. Undefeated in non-con, 2-6 in league play.

I will eventually update the OP with a list of high profile in-state recruits that decide to go elsewhere after a half-assed attempt to gain their services. The inevitable cavalcade of *** rejects, skeezers, skanks, and scalliwags we get will fill out the ranks.

Razors, cyanide capsules, and Jonestown Kool-Aid are available in the break room. Second door on the left.

Since every Mizzou thread eventually dies of AIDS, I recommend starting anti-retroviral therapy immediately. I believe Walgreens covers Express Scripts.

Premium In-State Players:

Roderick Johnson: **** OT, Florissant, MO.
Monte Harrison: **** WR, Lee's Summit, MO.
Jimmy Swain: **** LB, Lee's Summit, MO

Commitment List: From to and possibly

Spoiler!

Sounds like Florida will man up on the outside and play press coverage against Missouri's WRs.

Couple of thoughts on that...

1) If they're matching up 4 CBs vs. Missouri's WRs, that leaves one LB in the box and leaves Florida susceptible to zone read style runs (something Mauk is suited to run, too) and the speed option.

2) Man coverage makes it difficult to account for a QB who can scramble and run. Wouldn't be surprised to see some zone trap, QB draw style plays if Florida is running a lot of man on the outside.

3) If you can force Florida to bring its safeties closer to the LOS because of the run game (QB or RB), that opens up some opportunities deep vs. man coverage. Back shoulder throws, etc.

Will be an interesting chess match, I think.

Florida's corners are built for and excel at man, press coverage. Zone is not good. Really no other option then to line them up 1-on-1 and play.

You're still rolling out a ton of talent. There's just reasons to believe that a bunch of college kids from Florida who know they don't have a realistic shot at having a successful (by their own standards) season might not be terribly fired up about playing some team from Missouri in 40 something degree weather.

On paper, this game comes down to the slimmest of margins. Any edge could be the difference.

Yeah, will be very interesting. It's a major advantage for Florida in the passing game... Missouri will have to attack it in different ways.

If Yost was calling this game, Mizzoui is screwed. With Henson, they have a chance.

How are those guys in run support? Likely will be fighting off the blocks of 6-6/225, 6-5/225 and 6-4/200 on most plays. Bud Sasser (6-4/220) is also a big, physical blocker at the wideout spot.

I would like to see several over the top throws. Win or lose, I want us to empty our guns.

I don't know how mentally tough Florida is, and I'd like to find out.

Being pushed around and out-physical-ed by LSU should be motivation enough.

Some are better than others. Even our safeties were recruited as corners so they excel in coverage but aren't your typical headhunter like Matt Elam was last year. Cody Riggs is pretty good in run support and Hargreaves is a special talent. Purifoy flashes at times, but also makes mistakes.

Why would it be a joke? They have two losses already and are staring down the barrel of several more. It's hard to see them finishing with fewer than four losses. 6-7 is more likely than a BCS bowl at this point in time.

DGB should have a good game. Lucas as well. Frank did a good job of throwing the ball high to them where a DB has little chance. If Mauk can deliver it high and accurate, I like our chances.

I'm not saying they will just lay down. I'm saying that, if we knock them down early, there's a chance they might not be in any hurry to get back up.

They're banged up from LSU. None of these players ever expected to play in 40 degree weather when they signed with Florida. Their BCS goal is shot. They still have to deal with Georgia and South Carolina on the road and finish with Florida State.

I can see a bunch of college kids from Florida just wanting to get this game over with and get back home for the bye week.

Not true. Florida still controls its own destiny in the SEC. They don't need help from anyone to win the East.

It's theoretically possible...just like Mizzou winning the national title is possible...but it's not happening.

Florida has been the third best team in the state so far...still an excellent team...but no threat to run the table.

B/C it's absurd that's why. What you are suggesting is the mentality of a loser and Fla very much has a culture of winning entrenched on the foundation of 3 MNC's and several SEC titles in the last 20 years alone. That's the kind of crap you see at places that have never won.

Not to mention they still have plenty to play for and plenty to work w/ - the SEC title is out there for them. Tyler Murphy's actually been a more effective passer than Driskel. Fred Taylor's kid albeit on a limited # of carries is averaging over 6 per. And they have a defense as good as anyone's that's portable. Fla is used to winning games ugly leaning on that defense. This game is as big for them as it is MU.

http://espn.go.com/college-football/...florida-gators

Sure they might lose to us, SC, and Fla St. That's possible. But I guarantee that is not what they are thinking about, they're thinking about running the table and winning the league which would make for a championship season.

If MU wins Saturday they will have earned it winning one heck of a fight.
