"Cunningham's philosophy is simple: Win with defense, special teams and a strong running game.

'If I was going to be that selfish, I could say, `Hey, to (heck) with the team, I'm going to go out there and score 30 points every game, and if we score 30, we ought to win.' But you know what would happen, we'd score 30 but we'd get beat because we threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown. The object is to win.'"

Game one, an interception was returned for a TD and 30 points would have won the game. Last time bob Dole checked, 30 > 27.

Game two, 30 points would have won the game even if an interception had been returned for a TD.

Can somebody in KC slap some sense into this man?

Gun is a dumbass. If he has faith in his QB he should not be making that comment. If he does not have faith in his QB he should get rid of him and start someone he does have faith in. Either way, he needs to make up his freakin' mind or get out of town. What a dumbass...

Actually, I didn't think it was too clear reading the article from which that was from...

Were those actually Gun's words or Raye's?

Either way... point well taken...

"Cunningham's philosophy is simple: Win with defense, special teams and a strong running game.

OK, I'll do the math: Lets see -
1. We have a good defense
2. We have poor special teams
3. We can't run the football

So the Chiefs only score a 1 on Gun's philosophy. 1 out of 3 is NOT good! Simple math. I bet IF the Chiefs passed more when up against 8 & 9 men fronts, the run woukld open up. What an idea!! However, we're stuck with sorry special teams play. My NEW math shows that we would score 2 out of 3 and according to Meatloaf - that AIN'T bad! My conclusion: Meat knows more about football than Gun!

Regardless of who said it, it doesn't make sense. Those comments are just icing on the cake that KC is long over due for an adequate coaching staff.

This classic defeatist philosophy is pure bull. I submit to you, that if the coaching staff believes this crap when preparing their gameplan, they will loose more often than not.

You know all offseason we heard about creating mismatches, keeping defenses off balance, making defenses conform to our offense by taking them out of what they like to do.

Now we are 0-2! These losses were to conference rivals, and thankfully not division rivals. While not the end of the world, these losses could possibly come back to haunt us(home field or tie breaker). Considering we were in these games and had the opportunity late to win both and we looked unprepared to take advantage or even dictate situations.

We have a good D, we've showed potential on O. We need work on ST. Where we get into trouble IMO, is when we play to keep it close. The only true alterative is play to win, anything else is pure BS.

BigTiger, not trying to hear the BS. Go KC
Wow! I can't see anyone defending Raye after this. The man is stupid, plain and simple. That 30-pt comment was pure dumbass. I'm struggling to remember something that even compares to the stupidity. Oh wait here's something: "When you play (the Titans), it's the quantity of the run and not the quality that matters." HUH?! What a moron. Let's NOT try to run effectively OR score, because even if we do we MIGHT lose because of an int, or something.

"Only three teams have scored fewer points than the Chiefs. Two, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh, played only one game because they have had their open date."

That makes me sick to my stomach.
