Geno Smith fans roll call

NEW THREAD HEADER (11/17/12):

The list is gone. We will all be Geno Smith fans when he gets drafted by the Chiefs. For historical documentation's sake, I'll keep the list in a separate post on this thread: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=3314

WHY GENO SMITH?
If you're wondering if Geno Smith is right for you, check out this brilliant post by Saccopoo:

http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=5388

Next, we have a few GIFs you may be interested in from the Oklahoma game. Insane potential. These are the elite throws that very few QBs can make. What more can I say? Geno Smith can be a franchise QB in the NFL, and the Chiefs need to take a shot on him.

GIF #1:
Spoiler!

GIF #2:
Spoiler!

GIF #3 (My favorite):
Spoiler!

HOW DO WE GET HIM HERE?

Glad you asked. I posted this checklist earlier. It probably belongs in the thread header, and will be updated as the Chiefs close out their season and start a new chapter in their franchise story.

Preparing for Geno Smith's Arrival In KC Checklist

1. [X] Lose games and acquire the #1 overall pick
2. [X] Get Pioli and the Patriot Way cronies the **** out
3. [X] Hire new GM/coach

OPTIONAL (but highly recommended):
4. [ ] Re-sign/tag Bowe, who really wants to play in KC with Geno
5. [ ] Re-sign/tag Albert

If he would have said some dumb shit like that in an interview with Jack Harry, Jack would have brought out the rape stick.
You can't blame Dawson for not following through. It was meatloaf day at the nursing home and he had his mind on dinner in a few hours

He had one whopping TD throw that required a good arm to make happen. The rest were wide open looks, easy crosses/slants, or WRs who made stupendous plays. Basically, he threw mostly TDs that Matt Cassel was capable of throwing. Think about it. When was the last time Cassel threw a TD that had you going, "Holy shit what a throw!" How many of those did he have in 2010? How many has he had in his CAREER?

Those easy throws are the kind of throws that Landry Jones has feasted on his entire career. Just like Cassel.

Now Geno Smith on the other hand...
IMO the td throw to boss in the first half of week 1 was his last "good" throw.

Thats cute.

Our 63 million dollar quarterback handpicked by the GM of the decade hasnt thrown a "wow" pass in 9 weeks.

Cassel in his wildest dreams couldnt make the last 2 tds geno threw last night.

His reeruned side armed throwing motion doesnt have the loft for the first one, and he probably doesnt even have the arm strength to make the 2nd one, let alone the accuracy.

Our biggest need is quarterback. Geno smith is a better quarterback than cassel already, and could be elite down the road. Hes the guy i want, even if we win a few games and have to trade up for him.

So much crazy shit happens in the NFL all the time. Mediocre or good teams can fall asleep at the wheel against shitty teams like us just as we decide to put up a fight. It could happen in any of those seven games. We already survived close calls against the Ravens and Steelers. I'd rather not have it happen again, but it probably will. This next time we might not be so lucky and the Chiefs will actually win a game.

Jacksonville has GOT to win some more games. They just got to.
Yeah they do.

There were the heavy rumors about them trying to get Tebow before the trade deadline. If that actually transpired, I would be feeling a lot better, but now, eh...

I'm pretty sure that they wouldn't have any problem pulling the trigger on another quarterback, or, at the very least, trading out of the #1 spot and having a team like Oakland or the Jets move up for Smith. Jacksonville needs a lot of players and a big time trade package like what the Redskins gave up for Griffin would be quite enticing.

Jacksonville could easily move down four or five spots and still get a decent QB such as Barkley or a pass rusher like Mingo, Werner or Montgomery.

Absolutely not.

The reason you love Smith is the tools/potential to be special at the next level:

1. He's got an exceptionally quick release that is a high release. Pass rushers at the NFL level are fast and long and the ball needs to get out quickly with velocity.

2. Pocket presence. Geno has a natural feel for the pressure in the pocket and uses the whole pocket in the passing game.

3. Accuracy. He's able to drop balls into a receivers hand in stride at all points of the field in tight coverage. He's as good as I've seen at this level in doing this.

4. Arm strength and correct velocity. Geno can hit the throws to all parts of the field and use the proper ball velocity on throws. He's not Dave Klinglering it on a five yard slant or Matt Casseling it on a 20 yard fade. The guy knows how much to put on a ball to any part of the field.

5. Experience. He's a three year starter at the position in two different systems. He's getting a ton of reps in Holgorsen's Air Raid offense which uses Pro Style multiple receiver routes. The guy will know how to throw a ball.

The fact that WV has lost some recently isn't on Geno. There defense is absolutely atrocious and his offensive line is a sieve. The guy continues to play hard all game long. Go watch those three throws that SNR highlighted from the OU/WV game. Most college QB's have one or two "highlight" passes like that for an entire year. Geno is continuing to make those types of passes every single game numerous times each game.

The guy has all the tools you want to build a franchise QB from in the NFL.

And I like Barkley and Jones. Hell, I got shit earlier this year for saying Jones was a legit NFL QB.

But neither of them are Geno Smith. Geno Smith has the traits that will give him the potential to be very special at the next level, IMO.

You forgot to mention his uncanny ability to escape pressure outside the pocket while maintaining his vision downfield.

Better than anyone at this level not named Luck since Elway.

I don't think the Chiefs are getting the 1st overall pick so I really our GM is ready to trade up to get Geno. I'd probably give our 2nd overall pick plus our 1st next year just to get Geno 1st overall if needed.

I don't know if it's his poise and coolness that are throwing me off, but my only question at this point is can he make the adjustment to the speed of the pro game.
And THAT, will just have to be determined after the point of sale.
