*.* 2013 General Fitness Thread *.*

Welcome to 2013! Now get your ass in top physical condition!

**From the 2012 Thread**

If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs

If you have questions about the SS programs, look here:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ

Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.

Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:

http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm

If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point.

That's my big issue there. 99 times out of 100 I don't have a partner so lifting to failure isn't an option. It makes it damn near impossible to push the limits.

Do you almost always push past failure?

You guys might be upset at me but I went to the gym anyways.

Saw an old female friend and she was giving me looks the whole time. She hasn't seen me since I was 330.

Anyways. The important stuff. I feel like I ****ing rocked it today. Ate 2 eggs, serving of breakfast potatoes and 1 piece of toast 45 min prior to lifting. Next time I'll wait an hour.

Yes sir. Pretty much every main power movement we do is 4-5 ramp up sets leading to a balls out set past failure or rest pause. Accessory stuff not so much, typically a couple sets of 15-20 to cram as much blood as possible in there. We follow john meadow's routine and diet practices.

I love home fries. If you ever try making them, try sweet potatoe fries with a little cajun spice in it.

I don't know what his routine it is, but I'm assuming 1 week rest between compound movements? Do you feel you are recovering okay?

I may do that for 8-12 week periods, but by than I feel like I'm not recovering sufficiently no matter how many cals, protein, testosterone I'm putting in my body, but I push the accesory stuff pretty hard as well. I'm also getting old

Really? You must respond to sickness differently than I do. Every time I've tried to exercise sick, it has sucked balls.

I lifted weights from September 12 to January 13 when I broke my ankle. Then I had an excuse for not going. Never went back. Was sitting here in my bed and dreading the fact that this was the end again, so I said **** it and went. Practically empty gym again. Gotta love it.

We hit everything twice a week pretty much. Legs, chest/delts, back/traps, arms/calves, off, repeat. Sometimes we throw a off day inbetween but its always twice every 7 days. We rotate power movements so first leg day is box squat with more quad accessory and next leg day is deadlift with more hams.
